Song Hye Kyo’s Bio

Song Hye Kyo was born on November 22, 1981, in Dalseo District, Daegu, South Korea. Unfortunately, she was born with a medical condition that threatened to take her life. Despite the doctor’s prognosis that she will not survive, Song remained alive. As a result, her parents registered her birth as February 26, 1982, instead of her original birth date.

Following her parents’ divorce, Song would spend the rest of her childhood with her mom, growing up in Gangnam District in Seoul. In elementary school, she developed a passion for figure skating but lost interest a few years later. Song Hye Kyo never looked back since then as she became more involved in entertainment. Also, as a teen, she made her acting debut in the drama series, First Love and gained widespread popularity with the 2000 KBS drama Autumn in My Heart. The drama’s success propelled her to become a Hallyu star.

Kyo won big with All In, and Full House before going on a brief hiatus in 2005 during which she traveled to the US to learn English. She made her film debut in My Girl and I (2005) which was met with tepid reviews. After a somewhat quiet period from Song, she received much praise for her performance on That Winter, the Wind Blows. She then starred in a couple of Chinese films before landing another jackpot with the rom-com series, Descendants of the Sun.
