Throughout the running of the band, the Stellar girl group went through several member changes. Some quit and others joined. In the end, before they disbanded, there were four members; the final line-up. However, they were originally meant to be six of them. Thoughts of the creation of the girl group began in 2010. They had their debut in 2011 with four members, with the single “Rocket Girl”. The release of the single was followed by two members calling it quits with the band. Most suspect that it was because of how badly their debut song fared. Their departure shook the band but their record label, The Entertainment Pascal, quickly signed up two new members to take their spots and years later they added another.
Who Were the Members of Stellar Girls Group?
Ga-young
Born in Seoul as Kim Ga-young on the 2nd of December, 1991, Ga-young was a member of the Stellar Girl Group between 2011-2017. During her time she served as the leader, lead vocalist and visual of the group. She studied dance at Sungkyunkwan University. When she is not dancing, she loves to shop. Ga-young is also good at acting and has appeared in some films including “Myung Wol The Spy” (2011).
Jeonyul
Jeon Yoo-ri was born on March 20, 1994. She weighs 43 kg, her zodiac sign is Pisces and her blood type O. She was a member of Stellar Girl Group from 2011-2017 a period when she served as the main dancer and rapper of the group. Jeonyul studied at Seoul School of Performing Arts. AKA Tuti Tuti, Jeonyul loves to exercise when she is not dancing.
Lee Sul
Kim Lee-seul was born on June 14, 1990, in Busan, South Korea. She is 5 ft 4 inches tall and weighs 41 kg while her blood is AB. She was one of the lead vocalists in the Stellar Girl Group but left them in 2012. Before joining Stellar she was part of the group, Honeydew. She received her education at Milyeogo High School.
JoA
Cho Young-jin is a South Korean singer that was born in Busan, South Korea 1991, August 15. Her zodiac sign is Leo. She attended the Baekseok University of Arts. She is 5 ft 5 inches tall and weighs 43kg. Her blood type is A. She was one of the lead vocalists in the Stellar Girl Group but left the group in 2012.
Minhee
Joo Min-hee is a South Korean actress and singer. Minhee was born in Seoul, South Korea in 1993, January 3 making her a Capricorn. She is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 45 kg. She was the lead vocalist and dancer in Stellar. Joo was also the face of the group. When Minhee joined the group, she remained its leader and face until they disbanded in 2018.
Hyoeun
Lee Hyo-Eun is a South Korean singer and a dancer. She was born in Seoul, South Korea in 1993, March 16 and is a Pisces. She’s 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 47 kg. She was one of the main vocalists in Stellar. She was added to the line-up in 2012 after JoA and Lee Seul left the group.
Youngheun
Youngheun was born in 1994. Her specialty is dancing and singing. She was a trainee for five years before she joined the group. Her position was a vocalist and she was also the group’s maknae. August 25th, 2017 was the day the announcement was made that she would be joining the band.
Why Did The Stellar Girl Group Disband?
The career girl group had always been rocky, right from their debut. It did not do as well as expected which made Leesul and JoA quit in January 2012. The band seemed like it would end before it even began. However, the label fixed things really quick by adding two new members, Minhee and Hyoeun. The new line-up Gayoung, Jeonyul, Minhee and Hyoeun pushed the group to the point, it got to.
Although, members of the Stellar Girl Group were not happy about the marketing strategies their manager and label took, as they were originally meant to be a cute, girly group but after a while, it took a more provocative turn. It became a sultrier and sensual group instead. In 2014, while promoting their EP, Marionette, they launched a marketing strategy that included a stripping game. Basically, all fans had to do to see parts of the members’ body was to like their pictures on Facebook. The members of the group did not like this at all. Their management did what they thought was best without their consent and each time they disagreed with them they would remind them of their contract.

After Leesul and JoA left the group, the next time the group’s existence was shaken up again was when Gayoung and Jeonyul decided not to renew their contracts with their agency. They decided to leave in August 2017 after their contract expired. That was when Youngheun was introduced into the group. They continued until they held their final meeting with their fans on the 25th of February 2018. In that meeting, they revealed that Minhee and Hyeoun would not be renewing their contracts. The group decided to disband because they did not like the look Stellar had and neither did their families as they insisted that it was not what they had signed up for. The group members remain close friends till date.
