On 26th April in 1965, Susannah Harker was born in London, England. She was named Susannah M Owens at birth. The actress was raised in a Roman Catholic family with her siblings and was educated as such. She studied at a strict convent boarding school located in Sussex and after getting groomed by the nuns in the school, she went on to the Central School of Speech and Drama in North London where she prepared for her career in the performing arts.
She made her screen debut in 1985 as Bessie Wills in Burke & Wills and through the rest of the 1980s, she played several roles in both films and television. Some of the appearances she made at this time were in The Lady’s Not for Burning (1987), The Fear (1988), Troubles (1988), and A Dry White Season (1989). She ushered in the ’90s with her role as Mattie Stoorin in House of Cards followed by Irene St. Claire in the film The Crucifer of Blood and the series Chancer (1990-1991) – where she starred as Joanna Franklyn in 14 episodes. The rest of the ’90s saw her performing in Surviving Picasso (film) in 1996 and TV shows The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, Faith, Pride and Prejudice, Heat of the Sun, and Ultraviolet from 1994 to 1998.
After appearing in the films Always Crashing in the Same Car, Intimacy, Trance, Offending Angels and The Calling between 2001 and 2008, she left the film department and focused on television. From 2001 to 2010, Susannah Harker made appearances on TV in shows including Murder in Mind, Walking the Dead, Midsomer Murders, and Moving On.
