Sylvester Stallone’s Tattoos: Everything You Should Know

Tattoos have long become the norm to many, especially to celebrities. People including celebrities apply tattoos to their bodies for different reasons. Some do it just to enjoy the body art, others for show-off, and some group as a result of the cult they follow.

Amazingly, tattooing isn’t just a practice for young people, even the senior citizens are great fans of tattoos, and action movie icon Sylvester Stallone isn’t left out.

Now at 69, Stallone remains one of the most notable all-time action stars. Well-known as Rambo, or Rocky Balboa, Stallone has tattoos around his body. However compared to most celebrities who apply theirs just for fun or show-off, Stallone’s are applied for a different reason.

Why Did Sylvester Stallone Get The Tattoos?

As an action movie actor, who attempts daunting and heart-thumping stunts every now and then Stallone is prone to injuries and has had a series of them. In a statement, he said “I have every sort of chest injury, I injured my vein when shooting Rocky II, and had sixty stitches” Ouch!. He continued “If you have watched Rocky, then you would understand how bad they look.” He also said the injuries gave a negative impression on people and he was frustrated with people’s misconceptions. So to get rid of the eyesore scars on his body, Stallone opts for tattoos. Stallone has got tattoos on his arm, chest, and back.

Perhaps the most notable of Stallone’s tattoos is the portrait of his wife, Jennifer Flavin, and three roses which represent his three daughters who all have Rose as their middle name. He first showed the tattoo in 2010 in the first part of The Expendables.

Sylvester Stallone tattoos were designed by some of the renowned tattoo artists. The portrait of Flavin, his third and current wife, was designed by Mike Devries. DeVries owns the MD Tattoos, which is based in Northridge, California. Mike is well-known for his amazing job in portraiture as a tattoo artist.

This tattoo was applied to the upper arm of the right shoulder. The elegant roses are applied in different colors, red, gold, and purple, as earlier explained, they represent, Scarlet, Sistine, and Sophia, the couple’s three daughters.

Another reason behind the tattoo was as a way to celebrate his over one-decade union with their wife.

Another top tattooist that worked on Stallone’s body art was Mario Barth. Barth is a top tattoo artist based in Sin City, Las Vegas. He worked on some of the tattoos which helped to cover and fill up the scars.
