Tamera Mowry and her two-minute younger twin sister Tia Mowry took the industry by storm with their teen role in ABC/WB sitcom Sister, Sister from 1994 to 1999.
The actress and her identical twin always knew they were born in the limelight. While they were born on July 6, 1978, in Gelnhausen in then-West Germany, they somehow managed to convince their parents to move to Los Angeles, California in order to give them leeway to pursue a career in entertainment. Following a few guest roles and contesting at talent shows, the sisters finally got the chance to show their talent with their breakthrough roles in the series Sister, Sister and they have remained active ever since.
Tamera Mowry went on to carve out her own niche as a talented actress in the medical drama Strong Medicine, starring Dr. Kayla Thornton. Hot on the heels of Strong Medicine came Roommates, Things We Do for Love; she also appeared in Tia & Tamera, a successful reality show which focused on the everyday activities of the twin sisters. Tamera has remained one of the hosts of the talk show The Real. The Television show was launched on July 15, 2013.
Apparently, acting is not her only forte; the twins are also gifted with an amazing voice and they have been making the most of it. The duo lent their voices to the covers of I’m Going Down, You Can’t Hurry Love, and Amazing Grace. They were also the voices behind the theme song of Sister, Sister for seasons five and six of the hit series. In the early 1990s, they were members of a singing group known as Voices which released their first single titled Yeah, Yeah, Yeah! in 1992, gracing the Billboard Hot 100 at No 72.
