Tammy Townsend was born to entertain; she has been gracing our screens since the mid-1980s and so far, she’s performed well above average. Fans of the NBC sitcom Days of Our Lives would definitely remember her for her unforgettable role as a single mother, Wendy Reardon. In recent years, she is more popular for portraying the character of Kira Cooper, the mother of K.C. Cooper – the lead role played by the beloved Zendaya in the Disney Channel series, K.C. Tammy was born as Tamara Townsend on the 17th day of August 1970 in the City of Angels – Los Angeles, California. From a very young age, she began exploring her artistic skills. Recognizing her flair for the arts, her parents enrolled her at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts from where she would graduate in 1988 at the age of 18. Tammy had already launched her acting career three years prior to her graduation from the school in 1985. Right before turning 15 years old, Tammy Townsend booked her first ever gig, the role of Sara in an episode of the NBC sitcom, Diff’rent Strokes.

Two years later in 1987, she appeared in an episode of another sitcom Charles in Charge. It was in that same year that Townsend would be crowned “Miss Talented Teen California”. With a confidence boost from winning the crown, Townsend was set to take the industry by storm. Tammy would spend the next few years landing bit parts in TV shows such as The Bronx Zoo, In the Heat of the Night, Living Single among others.

Townsend’s first regular role would finally come as Wendy Reardon in the renowned NBC sitcom, Days of Our Lives – a role she played between 1994 and 1996.

Blessed with great vocals, Tammy Townsend made her film debut in the 1991 musical film, The Five Heartbeats followed by the 1995 comedy film, The Brady Bunch Movie. In her penultimate year on Days of Our Lives, Townsend booked the series regular part of Greta McClure in CBS’ Family Matters.

The new millennium began well for Townsend as she earned a role in the comedy film, Playing Mona Lisa and bagged back-to-back recurring roles in Grown Ups and Walker, Texas Ranger. Her next big role was as Pam Gibson in Rock Me, Baby. Her other noteworthy TV appearances include; Barbershop, Lincoln Heights, Switched at Birth, Sherri, The Client List, and of course K.C. Undercover. Some of her notable films include Love Chronicles and Preacher’s Kid.

Tammy Townsend’s Family (Parents and Husband)

Tammy Townsend primarily has her parents to thank for her early start in the entertainment industry. Townsend most likely got her creative side from her African-American mother, Anorene, who works as an interior designer. Her father is an Englishman, Thomas Townsend, who has roots from Yugoslavia. He leads a legal profession and has risen to the rank of a judge. Townsend occasionally posts about her parents on her social media pages.

Tammy Townsend does not have a husband and has never been married, however, viewers of the show K.C. Undercover were awe-struck by her performance as a wife on TV that they wondered if she was drawing from some personal experience. On the show, Tammy is the wife of Kadeem Hardison’s character Craig Cooper and together, they parent the show’s lead character. The rumors that the two were actually a couple began after a 2014 interview with where the interviewer kept referring to Kadeem as her husband. However, Townsend took to her Twitter page to keep things straight, clarifying that Kadeem was only her TV husband.

Before her link with Kadeem, Tammy Townsend was also rumored to be dating actor Carl Payne. Rumors had it that their romance started after they starred together in the 2012 film, Love Overboard, however, neither party confirmed the rumors. Making the rumors seem true was the fact that Payne at the time was separated from his wife Melika Payne whom he married in 1992. The couple would go ahead to finalize their divorce in 2014.

As of this writing, the only confirmed relationship that Tammy Townsend has ever been in was that with actor Kevin Eubanks whom she met at a parking lot in LA. The couple was in 1996 featured on the covers of Ebony Magazine as the Top 10 Couples of the year. They have long broken up.
