Terence Crawford is a professional American boxer who has garnered fame following his exceptional defensive skills, punching power, and hand speed. This bloke has registered his name as a champion in three weight classes – the WBO welterweight, lightweight, and light welterweight titles.

Terence Crawford was born in Omaha, Nebraska on September 28, 1987. The boxer was born to African-American parents Terry Crawford and his wife Debbie Crawford. Terence developed a keen interest in the game of boxing at a very tender age and he started training as a boxer when he was seven years old. Crawford belongs to the black ethnicity and holds an American nationality.
During his amateur career, he had seventy fights out of which he lost only seven. As an amateur, he triumphed over Danny Garcia and Mikey Garcia and clinched three amateur championship titles – the 2006 National PAL Championship, Blue & Gold National Championship, and U.S. Pan American tournament in 2007. Prior to the 2008 Summer Olympics held in Beijing, Crawford was the highest-ranking lightweight fighter in the United States. Although he qualified for the Olympics, he was knocked out of the competition by Sadam Ali.
Pro Boxing Career
The young and aggressive fighter turned pro in 2008 and made his debut in a fight against Brian Cummings. The gallant fighter knocked out Cummings in round one, ending the game in just 15 mins. He recorded his first victory in a big fight against Breidis Prescott; it was his first fight on a 140 pounds limit.
Terence’s skills continued to improve and in 2013, he defeated the Russian boxer, Andrey Klimov, in a ten-round fight. Subsequently, he triumphed over Ricky Burns to clinch his first WBO lightweight title. He was later matched with the featherweight titleholder Yuriorkis Gamboa in the same year and after the fight, he was declared the winner. Terence earned the 2014 BWAA Fighter of the Year award for his wonderful performance.
In search of a more challenging environment, this boxer made his light-welterweight debut against Thomas Dulorme on April 18, 2015. Crawford won the fight after knocking Dulorme down three times in the sixth round. Following his victory, Terence was crowned as the HBO light-welterweight champion. Later in the year, he defeated Dierry Jean and Hank Lundy to retain the title.
After Crawford officially vacated his WBO lightweight title to move up to the major welterweight division, he knocked out Jeff Horn who was the welterweight titleholder in 2017 to take the title.
