Dale Earnhardt lived his life pretty much on a fast lane. A NASCAR Hall of Famer, he was one of the best as far as the motorsports business is concerned. Apart from that, he has not pressed the brakes on relationships, marrying three women in his life at different points; Latane Brown, Brenda Gee, and then, Teresa Houston who has come to be known as Teresa Earnhardt.

The third wife and widow of the great auto racing driver and team owner, Teresa is also a businesswoman who headed Dale’s organization, Dale Earnhardt, Inc. (DEI). Teresa Earnhardt – Biography

It was on October 29, 1958, that the Hickory, North Carolina native was born Teresa Houston to Hal Houston and a mother who has remained away from the media as much as possible, Betty Houston. Hal was a businessman (furniture wholesaler) and avid outdoorsman who also owned race cars.

A woman described as a high achiever since she was only a little girl, Teresa Earnhardt went to Bunker Hill High near Rockingham, N.C., from where she graduated before proceeding to have a commercial art and interior design degree. Pretty much, she was an athletic kid that one would have thought she might have made a career out of sports as she was on the varsity basketball team when she was in Bunker Hill.

Relationship with Dale Earnhardt

It was not surprising that the relationship between Teresa and Dale began, thanks to racing as that was something that had been in her family. Her uncle, Tommy Houston was a very successful driver who has his name among the Busch Series all-time victory list, on which he is ranked in the third spot. More so, his sons are also in the business.

The two met when Dale drove one of the cars of Hal at a time when he was still trying to make it in the business. Even though at the time, Dale had already been married twice, his romance was not something that was objected by her family members because according to Hal, it was clear to him that Dale was devoted to his daughter.

By that time, Dale Earnhardt had already divorced his first wife Latane Brown whom he had married when he was only 17 in 1968. They only stayed together for two years before they went their separate ways in 1970. A year later, he was married a second time this time around to Brenda Lorraine Gee who is the daughter of Robert Gee, NASCAR car builder. The second marriage ended in divorce in 1979.

On November 14, 1982, he walked down the aisle with Teresa who became the third woman that Earnhardt got married to, and also the last. Their union was blessed with a child Taylor Nicole Earnhardt. She was birthed to the couple in 1988. From his earlier marriages, Dale also had kids. In 1969, his first son Kerry Dale Earnhardt was born to him by his first wife. Kerry grew up to follow the footsteps of his father by becoming a NASCAR driver. He also had two children from his second marriage- Kelley King Earnhardt and Ralph who were born in 1972 and 1974 respectively.

Teresa Earnhardt remained as more than just a wife to Earnhardt, she was also his business partner who oversaw the Dale Earnhardt, Inc. until it finally closed down in 2009 when it was absolved into Chip Ganassi Racing. Years before then on February 18, 2001, Dale lost his life in a three-car crash during the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway.
