For those of us who watched Drew Barrymore grow from a little girl of 7, right before our eyes, into a woman who has achieved so much in her career, the feeling was made perfect when she married a man we believed was the love of her life (after two failed attempts). Unfortunately, three years into their marriage and two children later, Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman decided to part ways in divorce.
Of course, it left everyone who loved the actress and was planning on setting relationship goals based on their love story disappointed while Drew was left with the feeling of being the biggest failure, as revealed by the actress. Drew Barrymore and her former husband, Will Kopelman, who is also an actor and film consultant famous for appearing in The Intern, dated from 2011 to 2012 when they got married. Three years later, the two already had two children but this couldn’t hold them together as it all ended in divorce in 2016.
Before Kopelman who many had believed was the one for the actress, she was previously married twice but both marriages obviously came to an end. Her first marriage was to Jeremy Thomas, a Welsh bartender. The two dated for only six weeks before getting married in 1994 and less than two months later, they were both single again. In 2001, she got married to comedian Tom Green, but this time around, it lasted five months before ending in divorce.
in spite of her shaky past relationships, it is the end of her marriage to Kopelman that has generated more interest with everyone trying to understand the reason behind the divorce. Let’s take a look.
Why Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman Divorced
1. According to speculations, one of the reasons that caused Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman to divorce is that the actress was caught using the dating app Raya. In an interview, the actress revealed that she had always fantasized about having a blind date but she never had the chance.
Subsequently, she decided to sign up for Raya, a dating app that her friend was using. She tried finding a blind date there but it failed to work and so, she decided to get off the app completely. A few days later, Kopelman demanded to know what she was doing on the site because her profile came up on his phone. She revealed that she was only on the site for five days.
2. Secondly, it was reported that there was friction between the two as regards where they should settle down; on the East or West Coast of America. As revealed by a source, the two had tried with no success to come to an agreement on whether they should base in Los Angeles or New York. At the time, they were both living on the Upper East Side of New York with their kids.
Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman were said to have tried to come to a consensus but the failure to do that added more tension to their marriage that after only three years had already turned fragile.
3. They were from opposite worlds. In an interview, Barrymore revealed that for her and Kopelman, it was not love at first sight, even though she had come to love him. That said, they were both from two different worlds as while he had a great blueprint of a family, she did not.
More so, she revealed that in expressing the things they liked and disliked, they were pretty much from two different worlds, wanting different things. Nonetheless, she gave him the credit for always being a good person. She did not reveal if this was a major issue in their marriage, but as it is most often, there is always tension in marriages with people who see everything differently.
4. Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman were also said to have had other marital issues, the nature of which was not revealed to the public. Following the birth of their second child, the Santa Clarita Diet actress suffered from postpartum depression which according to her, changed how she viewed her family. There is, however, no indication that the depression she suffered caused or added to the marital issues they had.
