The Untold Reason ‘Arrow’ Is Being Cancelled After Season 8

Unlike other comic book-inspired TV series, The CW’s superhero TV drama Arrow was an almost fresh take on everything we have come to associate comic heroes with. A story about a hooded secret vigilante who fights crime and corruption with a bow and arrow, this comic book adaptation has a hero character who possesses no superhuman powers. There was no magic, no zapping lights, and no sky-flying abilities. However, this series that has come to be recognized by many is wrapping up after its eight-season. While fans are saddened to hear this, they are eager to know why and what becomes of a show they have grown to love throughout its 7 years on TV. Arrow season 8 is set for release on October 15, 2019, and will consist of 10 episodes.

Why is Arrow Being Cancelled After Season 8?

The main star Stephen Amell had met the show’s producers after the end of Season 6 to express his desire to move on to other projects upon the expiration of his contract. Producers Berlanti, Guggenheim and Schwartz had persuaded him to stay instead and make a final season but in his comment about backing out, Amell further explained that his family obligations were behind his decision to finally bow out.

There was also the reality that the show may have gone on long enough and was no longer the commercial success it once was. Reacting to the shocking news about the show’s end, even the rest of Arrow cast members expressed gratitude for the time they shared on the show. They also promised fans a spectacular final season.

Nonetheless, despite these, fans will be glad to know this won’t be last they’ll see Amell as Oliver Queen. His character is expected to be relaunched in new fashion and universe by DCTV multiverse.

What Should We Expect in Arrows Season 8?

Arrow was intended to be down-to-earth, with a character who is very human, depending only on his skill, wit, and passion to defeat evil. Upon its premiere on October 20, 2012, the show quickly garnered positive reviews and became a critical and commercial success.

Arrows Season 8 is expected to come with a whole new wave of DC Comics TV shows after Smallville that sadly ended in 2011. The show’s season finale will have an almost overriding emotional theme as we see Oliver trying to come to terms with his impending death. He confronts the crisis that is to come and tries to save his family. There will be flashbacks, battle and a future. Queen’s adult daughter Mia, Hawke and Driggle Jr will play noticeable roles.

Who is in the Cast of Arrow Season 8?

Since its first season, the Arrow cast has grown, however, most of its main actors have remained. For this final season, the following stars are expected to return: Stephen Amell as the main star Oliver Queen, David Ramsey as John Diggle/Spartan, Rick Gonzalez as Wild Dog, as Black Siren, Juliana Harkavy as Black Canary, Colton Haynes as Roy Harper/Arsenal, and Sea Shimooka as Emiko Queen/Green Arrow.

Season 8 will see the introduction of adult versions of Joseph David-Jones now Connor Hawke, Ben Lewis now William Clayton, Charlie Barnett now adult John Driggle Jr and Katherine McNamara now Mia Smoak.

Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) announced her departure from the show in March 2019 and won’t be returning.
