It was on February 16, 1990, that The Weeknd was born in Ontario, Canada to Ethiopian parents who migrated to the country. His birth name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye. Even before he grew up, Abel’s father left him and his young mother who had to work very hard to provide for the young boy that would grow up to entertain the world.
After his father had left and later began another family somewhere else, the greater responsibility of taking care of young Abel fell on his grandmother since his mother who was now left with the task of caring for the family had to do multiple jobs.
