Titus Welliver is an actor who has come to be known for his many roles including Lost in which he portrays Man in Black, Sons of Anarchy in which he plays Jimmy O’Phelan, and Bosch, taking the lead role. Titus Welliver – Biography

The prolific actor was born Titus B. Welliver on March 12, 1961, in New Haven, Connecticut, United States. His mother was Norma Cripps while his father was Neil Welliver. Neil was a painter who started teaching his son the arts since he was 12.

The elder Welliver wanted his son to continue in the field and so he sent him to school. However, Titus was already disillusioned before too long in the art school and so his father told him not to force himself but look for something he loved to do, suggesting acting which the boy had always had a passion for.

He went to New York University where studied drama. While there, he took various odd jobs so as to make ends meet including as a bartender and bouncer.

Welliver started his career off-Broadway before he started on TV in 1990 when he appeared in an episode of Matlock. He continued getting small roles in TV shows until 1995 when he got the role of Dr. Mondzac in NYPD Blue. His next big role was in Brooklyn South (1997 to 1998), then That’s Life (2001 to 2002), Lost (2009 to 2010), and Bosch (2015-).

He also made his film debut in 1991 when he appeared in Navy SEALs. His other films include Blind Justice (1994), Assault on Precinct 13 (2005), and Escape Plan 2: Hades (2008).

Spouse and Children

In the love and relationship department, the veteran actor has had it very busy but not as successful as one would want. He has been married five times in the past. His first marriage was to a woman known as Heather Wielandt in the 1980s. The marriage came to an end in 1989.

The next time he walked down the aisle was with Dani Sexton in 1992. The union would last until 1996 when it came to an end. Still not done, he got into a relationship with Joanna Heimbold whom he ended marrying in 1998. The third would not be his lucky charm as again, it ended in divorce in 2004.

It was after his third that he met the woman he would come to describe as the love of his life, Elizabeth W. Alexander. A film producer famous for films like Big Night (1996), The Imposters (1998), and The Mudge Boy (2003), Alexander and Titus got married in 2005 and were together until 2012 when she died following complications from breast cancer.

The Good Wife actor got married for a fourth time in 2014 and this time around, it was to the former model, Jose Stemkens. In 2019, it was reported that the actor had filed for legal separation from his wife of five years.

From all his marriages, Titus Welliver has three children; Quinn Welliver, Cora McBride Walling Welliver, and Eamonn Lorcan Charles Welliver. His marriage to Joanna Heimbold produced two children while the one to Alexander gave a daughter. According to him, the birth of his daughter and two boys have been the most magical moments of his life and he could never be more proud of any success than to be their father.

1. From a very early age, Titus Welliver was already used to tragedy. He lost his baby sister when he was young and the experience shook his faith in God. 7 months later, he was faced with another tragedy in the death of his stepmother who he loved so much and his brother both of whom died in Thailand. Much later, he would lose his older brother Silas to muscular dystrophy.

2. Before his sister died in 1976, their house was lost to a fire that also took away the studio of his father.

3. His father worked in the University of Pennsylvania and was chair of the university’s Department of Fine Arts. In 2018, an op-ed was released accusing him of taking advantage of his position to sexually assault students.

4. The actor has another brother, Ethan Welliver.
