Tom Hiddleston Bio
On the 9th of February 1981 somewhere in Westminster, London, England a future star actor named Thomas William Hiddleston was born. He was born to a Scottish physical chemist, James Norman Hiddleston, and his lovely wife, and arts administrator Diana Patricia (née Servaes). His siblings include an older sister Sarah who works as a journalist in India and a younger sister Emma who is following in the footsteps of big brother to become an actress.
Tom was introduced to the entertainment industry by his mother who before becoming an arts administrator worked as a casting director and a stage manager. When he was 12 years old, his parents split, and as a result, Tom would come to grow up in different places, first in Wimbledon, and later a village near Oxford. He attended Dragon School, Eton College, and Cambridge’s Pembroke College where he earned a double first in Classics.
Beginning at Eton College, Tom Hiddleston began acting in school plays. Subsequently, he began landing small parts in TV shows like ITV’s Nicholas Nickleby and the BBC’s Conspiracy.
After graduating from Pembroke, Tom attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and graduated in 2005. Asides from a few TV gigs and a couple of feature films, Hiddleston spent about the first 10 years of his career in theater roles. Those years prepared him for the role of Loki in Marvel’s Thor which became the breakthrough of his career.
Tom Hiddleston has been extremely successful in his career. As a Marvel villain, Hiddleston earns big from Marvel anytime he stars in any of the franchise’s films that require his character. His Marvel films have included the Thor films and The Avengers films. He also earned hugely from other roles including Kong: Skull Island and many others. Like every star actor, Hiddleston bolsters his wealth with endorsement deals. His own partners include Jaguar cars. That said, Tom Hiddleston’s net worth is estimated at over $20 million.
His Wife, Dating History, and Ex-Girlfriend Taylor Swift
Tom Hiddleston has had his fair share of romances in the film industry but has never made it down the aisle with any of his flames. In recent years, Tom has become largely private about what goes on in his romantic life going almost ghost mode on social media. However, in time past, he has romanced a handful of notable stars.
His first true relationship to make it to the spotlight was with his Wallander costar, Susannah Fielding. The pair dated for three years from 2008 to 2011 before splitting up. Reports had it that the split came as a result of Hiddleston wanting to focus more on his career. The reason seemed very true as Tom was entering the next level of his career and starred in 5 films between 2010 and 2011. If anything, his focus yielded excellent results.
As Hiddleston continued to solidify himself in the Hollywood spotlight so did rumors about his love life swirl around the media. It all began in July 2013 when he was linked with a couple of women including Sherlock actress Lara Pulver and record producer Jane Arthy. Tom was photographed getting cozy with the two women on different occasions. He attended Wimbledon finals with Arthy but like with Pulver, it was the only time they were spotted together.
And then came 2015 when the English gent was linked with Elizabeth Olsen. The rumors began after the duo seemed to share undeniable chemistry at their press tour for I Saw the Light. Olsen didn’t let the rumors linger for too long as she shut them down by confirming to Refinery 29 that they were not a thing.
Hiddleston’s next confirmed relationship after Susannah Fielding was with pop star Taylor Swift. It is to date his highest publicized relationship. Rumors of the two being a thing began after they appeared to be flirting at the Met Gala in 2016. Swift, at the time, was still dating ace DJ Calvin Harris. The suspicions turned out to be true as Swift split up with Harris about a couple of months later and was spotted kissing Hiddleston on their date to the beach.
Fans quickly labeled them Hiddleswift and for a while, it looked like they would go on to last forever. Hiddleston literally wore his heart on his sleeves when he was spotted donning a tee with “I love Taylor Swift” written across it. By September 2016 after a whirlwind of 3 months, they had split up.
Fans speculate that Talor’s song ‘I Did Something Bad’ in her 2017 album Reputation was about her cheating on Harris and her relationship with Hiddleston. Tom’s split from the pop star seemed to be an amicable one as he had nothing but nice words to say about her during his GQ interview. He also shut down rumors that their relationship was only a publicity stunt.
