The class of actors that make up the True Lies cast list is another example of the vision and touch of brilliance of Canadian filmmaker. A remake of the 1991 French comedy film La Totale!, this action-comedy thriller film, which was written, directed and co-produced by the Titanic and Avatar creator, tells the story of a United States government agent named Harry Tasker who struggles to balance his professional and personal life. To his family, Tasker is a computer salesman who happens to be often away on business trips while in reality, he is a spy – a covert operative for a U.S. counter-terrorism task force.

Arnold Schwarzenegger – Harry Tasker

Prior to playing the role of Hary Tasker, Schwarzenegger had already built a reputation for himself in Hollywood as an action film icon. Some of the roles that helped cement his status were his appearance in Conan the Barbarian (1982) and earlier collaboration with Cameron in the successful Terminator franchise, among others.

Since appearing in True Lies, Arnold Schwarzenegger has starred in various other movies such as Collateral Damage (2002) and Maggie (2015). He has also embarked on a political career that saw him become Governor of the U.S. State of California.

Jamie Lee Curtis – Helen Tasker

Like her co-star Arnold, had also made a name and garnered wide acclaim for herself in Hollywood before she agreed to join the True Lies cast. She was known for her roles in films like Trading Places (1984) and A Fish Called Wanda (1988).

Following the release of True Lies, Curtis received praise for her performance as Harry Tasker’s wife as she went on to take home the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy, American Comedy Award for Funniest Lead Actress in a Motion Picture, and the Saturn Award for Best Actress. She has since then continued to act, appearing in films and TV series like Beverly Hills Chihuahua (2008), You Again (2010), Veronica Mars (2014), and Scream Queens (2015–2016). She has further been able to add author and activist to her list of titles.

Tom Arnold – Albert ‘Gib’ Gibson

Actor and comedian played the role of a spy and sidekick to Schwarzenegger’s character. Since his role in the film, the Iowa native has continued to take on various roles in films such as Nine Months (1995), Cradle 2 the Grave (2003), Mr. 3000 (2004), The Great Buck Howard (2008), and Madea’s Witness Protection (2011). He has also worked as a television host, serving as the host of The Best Damn Sports Show Period for four years. Arnold also appeared as Elvis Bertrand in NCIS: New Orleans (2016-2019).

Art Malik – Salim Abu Aziz

Art Malik is a Pakistani–English actor who played an Islamic extremist named Salim Abu Aziz in the film. Like most of other True Lies cast members, Malik achieved international fame; he gained fame for his roles in the 1980s thanks to his appearance in the TV series The Jewel in the Crown and in the Bond film The Living Daylights (1987).

Since appearing in the film, Art Malik has continued to work as an actor. His most recent roles are in episodes of TV series like Homeland, Cold Feet, Indian Summers, Doc Martin, and Doctor Who.

Bill Paxton – Simon

The late played the role of Simon, a used car salesman who pretends to be a covert agent to flirt with Tasker’s wife. Like Schwarzenegger, the actor and director had worked with Cameron on films like The Terminator (1984) and Aliens (1986) where he received a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor.

The pair’s working relationship carried on after True Lies as they worked together on Titanic (1997). Paxton went on to launch his own directing career as he starred and directed in the film Frality (2001) among others before dying from a stroke in 2017. His most recent role was in The Circle (2017) which was released posthumously.

Tia Carrere – Juno Skinner

plays the role of an antique dealer named Juno Skinner who has ties to the Islamist terrorist, Aziz. Her appearance as a cast member in True Lies garnered her a Saturn Award and MTV Movie + TV Award nomination.

The Hawaii native since has continued to hone her craft; some of her most notable roles are as Sydney Fox in Relic Hunter (1999-2002) and Cha Cha in Curb Your Enthusiasm (2007).

While acting, Tia has also embarked on a music career that has led to her releasing five studio albums, two of which won her Grammy Awards in 2008 and 2010.
