Tyron Smith is an American football player who was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2011 NFL Draft with the ninth overall pick. The offensive tackle, who was recognized for being the best offensive or defensive lineman on the West Coast while playing college football, has so far featured in five Pro Bowls and has also been named to two First-team All-Pro.

He was born Tyron Jerrar Smith on the 12th of December, 1990 in Los Angeles, California where he was raised. His excellent athletic abilities and size made sure he dominated his peers in sports as a child and also meant that he got the opportunity to attend good schools on scholarship.

He first attended Rancho Verde High School where he participated in both football and track & field. Smith was noted for his shot-put and discus throwing but it was, however, in football that he earned numerous regional honors, most notably, All-American honors by Parade, SuperPrep, PrepStar, Scout.com, and EA Sports before heading off to the University of Southern California where he played for two years before enlisting for the draft.

Tyron Smith comes from a huge family of eight. While growing up, he and his five siblings worked in the family business; a cleaning service owned by his stepfather. It was reported that Smith and his siblings had to wake up as early as 4 am to go to work before getting back home and preparing for school.

However, ever since Smith made it into the NFL, putting pen to paper on a life-changing contract, he has had sleepless nights over finance-related issues with his family. The Dallas Cowboys football player, who revealed that he had given his family a good sum of money after he was drafted, is now embroiled in an embarrassing dispute over the issue that has even led to the involvement of law enforcement officials. He has had to file a restraining order against his mother and stepfather; Frankie and Roy Pinkney, after they reportedly threatened to harm him and his girlfriend.

According to Smith, he and his family agreed to an installment payment which he has duly paid off. However, after his family allegedly spent all of the money that they had received, they began asking for more. He further revealed that about $1 million has gone missing from his accounts which was coincidentally being looked over by a financial advisor his mother suggested to him. This prompted him to sever ties with his family, which further caused more incidents as they have either tried to confront him or his girlfriend.

First, it was his sisters who stormed his home while he was at the Cowboys’ team hotel and confronted his girlfriend asking for money, which prompted her to call the police. The next incident was at the Cowboys training camp in Oxnard, California where one of his brothers whom he hadn’t spoken to in a while showed up asking for money before being escorted out by security.

Regardless of all that has happened, Tyron Smith has said he hopes to one day reconcile and have a relationship with his family so long as they stop thinking they can take advantage of him.

Tyron Smith is not married but is however in a serious relationship with Leigh Costa. Not much is known about Ms Costa aside from the fact that she has always stood behind her man, specifically when he had issues with his family. She has also been attributed for his better sense of dressing as Smith was always the subject of ridicule from his teammates over his poor dress sense. Leigh Costa has also been a generous bone marrow donor for a total stranger who she was a ‘9-out-of-10’ DNA match with.

The couple does not have any children together, however, Smith has a son named Jaxson born in June 2012 from a previous relationship with model Lexi Placourakis.
