He had his high school education in Rayton Senior High School, in the town of Rayton, Missouri, Kansas City, where he went to live with his uncle and his wife, Kevin and Sandra Graves. In school, he played basketball under coach Scalon and proved to be a standout. After high school, he joined the University of Nebraska where he continued in the game.

Prior to his junior year, he was named Big Eight All-Freshman Team, Second Team All-Big his sophomore year. He was also named the First Team All-Big 12 in his junior year. However, he decided to declare for the NBA draft after his junior season. Following his declaration, he was selected 23rd overall by the Denver Nuggets in 1998.

He was not only a standout player but a playmaker as well. Tyronn ended his college career ranked third all-time in assists (432), fourth in three-pointers made (145) and attempted (407), fifth in steals (154), and seventh in scoring (1,577) as well as tied with Dave Hoppen for most games with 30 or more points (7). Apart from the parent team where he did not play, he was traded on the draft night, he played for seven other teams and for a total of 11 NBA seasons. The other teams include Los Angeles Lakers, Washington Wizards as a point guard, Orlando Magic in the 2003-2004 season after which he was traded to the Houston Rockets. Coaching Career

Having played for various teams through the course of his basketball career, he seemed more than qualified to handle the position of a coach when the mantle was handed to him. He had the benefit of sitting, training, and playing under different coaches and must have been ingrained with what is needed to head successfully an NBA team. As expected, Tyronn Lue is doing more than enough justice to his assignment.

His career as a player ended in 2009 and he became Director of Basketball Development for the Boston Celtics in October of the same year. Four years later, in July 2013, he became part of the Los Angeles Clippers’ coaching staff. Making steady progress into his coaching career, Tyronn was hired as associate head coach by the Cleveland Cavaliers on June 23, 2014. His new appointment ranked him among the highest-paid assistant coach in the NBA with $6.5 million salaries over a 4-year deal.

When the search for the Cavaliers’ head coach came up, Tyronn was a top candidate for the job. However, the position went to David Blatt in the end. In the mid-season of 2015-2015, coach David was fired leaving the space open for Tyronn Lue being that he was fit to wear the cap. The three-year coaching contract took effect from January 22, 2016.

The Cavs’ head coach has been able to achieve a lot in his job even within the first season. On May 19, his team defeated the Toronto Raptors in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Following their unbeaten record in the 2016 playoff, Tyronn became the first coach in NBA history to win his first 10 postseason games. With more winning streaks, they clinched their first NBA Championship on June 19, 2016, becoming one of the few rookie coaches in the NBA history to ever lead his team to a title after a 52-year championship drought. Impressive, huh?

Tyronn Lue depends on flexibility and James’s consistency as his coaching style. Although the style has been described as undisciplined and unprepared in the regular season, the end has always justified the means. Despite the seemingly poor style, he has been lauded for his ability to think several moves ahead and create matchup advantages.

The Cavalier’s head coach has not been linked to any woman romantically. He is certainly not gay but no rumors have been caught flying out of the coach having a girlfriend, wife or even any child.
