She was previously married to the late talented and award-winning American musician Chris Cornell who sadly died in 2017. While her husband lived and was very much in the spotlight, Vicky stayed away from media attention until her husband’s death required her to face the attention. Since then, she has become a somewhat public person touching the lives of people in various ways. Find out more about her background here, her relationship with Chris Cornell and their children.

Vicky Karayiannis Bio, Age

Vicky Karayiannis was born on August 13, 1987, in the United States to Toni Karayiannis (mother) who also had her brother and named him Nicholas Karayiannis. Her family has their ancestry traced to Greek where they successfully ran restaurant and music businesses. Nicholas inherited this knack for restaurant business and is today a successful New York restaurant executive known with the nickname DJ Nick Blast.

Being that she is someone that kept away from the public, not much has been revealed about her childhood life, education, career beginning and accomplishments. Pieces of information available have it that she worked as a Publicist in Paris and later became a philanthropist following the establishment of a charity foundation with her husband called Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation.

Relationship with Chris Cornell and Their Children

Vicky Karayiannis became relatively popular following her relationship with Chris Cornell. The two were said to have met when Vicky was doing her publicity work and Chris was on a French tour with his band Audioslave band. Things got off well between them and in no distant time, Chris reportedly proposed to her with a Harry Winston diamond ring in a French bar. Her response resulted in their nuptials in 2004 with their close friends and family members in attendance.

Not long after their marriage, the couple welcomed their first child together, a baby girl named Toni Cornell in September 2004. The following year, their second child, a baby boy named Christopher Nicholas Cornell was born in December 2005.

Before Vicky however, Chris was married to Sarah Silver – Alice In Chains manager, with whom he had a daughter named Lilian Jean in the year 2000. The duo divorced in 2004 after which Chris tied the knot with Vicky.

In the year 2012, the musician and his wife started a foundation called the Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation which caters for homeless, abused, poor and neglected children. The foundation has continued to live up to its purpose since it was established; touching and changing the lives of many of its beneficiaries for good including partnering with other international charity organizations like the International Rescue Committee on World Refugee Day.

Chris Cornell’s Death

Following the sad death of her husband under questionable circumstances, Vicky Karayiannis is doing all she can to raise awareness about the cause of Chris’ death which she opines to be largely the fault of his physician.

Before his death, Chris was said to have had a shoulder injury in addition to suffering from depression. His doctor Dr. Robert Koblin prescribed psychoactive drugs – benzodiazepine for him. Vicky described the drug as “dangerous mind-altering controlled substances.”

Her husband was found dead in the bathroom of his hotel room in Detroit on the 17th of May after performing with the Soundgarden band earlier. The coroner ruled the cause of his death to be suicide by hanging after an autopsy report. However, Vicky does not believe any of that as she blames the late singer’s doctor for overprescribing drugs that can alter a person’s mind to the singer.

It was reported in November 2018 that Vicky Karayiannis was suing her late husband’s doctor for her husband’s death as a result of his negligence in 2017. We await the outcome of the suite to learn about the fate of Dr. Robert Koblin.
