The name Victor Voronov instantly brings ice-skater and Olympic champion, Johnny Weir to mind. The gentlemen were previously together in a marriage which for the greater part of its duration left the couple bitter and exhausted with and from each other. Most notably, he was on the Dean’s List, earned the Presidential Education Award for Academic Achievement, Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and was also the President of Russia Student Association and The Chess Club. He graduated in 2005 with a cumulative grade point average of 4.0.
Afterward, Victor Voronov enrolled at the Georgetown University Law Centre in 2005 for further studies. He earned his Juris Doctor in 2008. As expected, he distinguished himself for excellence yet again in the course of his studies.
He began his career as a corporate lawyer with Chadbourne & Parke LLP in May 2007. Voronov worked at both the firm’s New York City and Moscow offices representing multi-national companies on complex cross-border corporate transaction issues. He also saw to mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity, initial public offerings, tax and incorporation issues. He worked here for 32 months before he left in December 2009.
From July 2010 to January 2014, Voronov practiced media law in the Greater New York City area. He served various clients by drafting, reviewing, revising, contracts as it relates to their interest. He also built corporate relationships, secured brand endorsements and worked as a liaison between his clients and corporations.
The next phase of his career began in March 2014 and lasted till February 2015. During this time, he worked on high profile cases bothering on same-sex marriage issues, domestic violence, celebrity goodwill, marriage issues, divorce, pre-nuptial agreements, wills, trusts & estates.
Afterward, Victor Voronov worked as a Real Estate Investor for a company in Michigan. As always, he was able to impress by expanding the company’s business by over 140% in a space of 6 months (March to December 2015). Since January 2016, the Russian born American trained lawyer has been working as an attorney in the Greater Detroit Area. His major casework includes the Class Action Lawsuit of The Flint Water Crisis.

It is no longer news that Victor Voronov is gay. He was widely speculated to be gay for a long time but stayed mute about it. He only outed just a week before his union with American figure skater Johnny Weir in 2011 on New Year’s Eve in New York City. The couple was married for 4 years during which they had a few ups and many downs. Victor was always traveling due to his work; Russia in one week, Tokyo in another week, Los Angeles yet in another week. Over time, this began taking its toll on their marriage and it wasn’t long before Johnny asked for a divorce.
The once happy couple engaged in a nasty divorce battle which saw them fight over Тёма, a Japanese Chin dog breed which lived with them. Weir claimed that the pint-sized dog is his while Victor maintained it was their family dog. At one point, Voronov got physical and slapped Johnny in court and as you would expect, his soon to be ex at the time charged him with domestic violence and many other nasty things ensued.
Their marriage was finally ended in 2015 with each going on to live their lives separately. Victor on his own part has not failed to admit how much he loved Johnny but has added that what he did to him is unforgivable.
