Walter Lemon Jr. is a professional American basketball player in the position of a point guard for the Boston Celtics of the NBA and Maine Red Claws of the NBA G League. He completed his collegiate basketball career with the Bradley Braves of Bradley University. While he was there, he was a two-time MVC Most Improved Team; two-time MVC All-Defensive Team, two-time Second-team All-MVC, and MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year 2014. He was born Walter Lemon Jr. to Walter Lemon Sr and his wife Katrina on July 26, 1992. He grew up in Chicago, Illinois where he attended Julian High School. While he was in Julian high, Lemon participated in several sporting events organized by his school and also featured in the basketball team. He holds an American nationality and his ethnicity is Afro-American.

During his high school career, Lemon recorded an average of three steals, six assists, five rebounds, and 19 points per game as a senior. He was selected to the 3A All-State Third-team by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association as well as All-Chicago Public League Second-team.

After his graduation, Lemon enrolled at Bradley University where he took up his college basketball career. Playing for the Bradley Braves basketball team, Lemon had an average of three rebounds and 18 points per game in his senior year. Throughout his college career, Lemon was named to the MVC Most-Improved Team twice in 2012 and 2013. He was named to the MVC All-Defensive Team as well as All-MVC Second-team in 2013 and 2014. In addition, he became the first player in Bradley to receive the MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award in 2014.

Career Stats

Walter Lemon Jr didn’t make the NBA draft in 2014 and after the draft; he joined the Golden State Warriors for the 2015 NBA Summer League. In September 2014, he signed up with the EGIS Kormend of the Hungarian League. Joining the Kormend, Lemon played 12 games for the club before he left in December 2014. The following year, he signed up with the Crailsheim Merlins of the German Basketball League for the rest of the season. He averaged 1.1 assists, 1.0 rebounds,s and 6.4 points per game in 2015.

During the 2015 NBA Development League Draft, Walter Lemon Jr. was selected by the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA G League. In 2016, he joined the Turkish club Istanbulspor Beylikduzu and towards the end of the season, he signed up with the Greek club Rethymno Cretan Kings in February 2017. During the 2017/18 regular season, Lemon made the opening roster of the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. He was named the G League Player of the Month of November following his wonderful performance.

In February 2018, he signed a 10-day contract with the New Orleans Pelicans. He made his first appearance for the club two days later, helping the Pelicans to clinch victory over Miami Heat. At the expiration of his 10-day contract, Lemon returned to Fort Wayne. In July 2018, he signed a two-way deal with the Boston Celtics of the NBA. In the course of his contract, Lemon will share his playing time between the Celtics and their affiliate Maine Red Claws of the NBA G League. He plays less for the Celtics and more with the Red Claws of the NBA G League.
