What Happened To Billy Bush and What is He Doing Now?

The 45th President of the United States, , appears to have as many lives as a cat, seeing that none of the scandals he has been embroiled in, both before and after his election, was able to derail his campaign or get the legislature to boot him out of office. Other people who have however been involved with him in these scandals have faced the music, with some spending time behind bars and others getting fired from their jobs. Billy Bush is one person who fits into the latter category as the television host found himself without a job after one of such incidents that happened in the past came to light.

Read on to find out more about the incident that somewhat ruined Billy Bush’s career, as well as what he has been up to ever since.

What Happened To Billy Bush?

Billy Bush’s journey to becoming one of the better-known faces on American television that led to him getting involved with Trump came after he launched a career in radio. The Bachelor of Arts degree holder in International Studies and Government worked for radio stations in New Hampshire and Washington, D.C. in the 90s and early 2000s before moving to television.

Bush first joined the daily entertainment news magazine Access Hollywood as their East Coast correspondent in late 2001. In 2003, he became the host of the short-lived NBC primetime version of Let’s Make a Deal and as a correspondent for WNBC-TV’s morning show, Today in New York. Having been deemed to have gotten sufficient experience in front of the camera, Bush was promoted to co-anchor at Access Hollywood in 2004. This meant that the New Yorker was present at the red carpet of high profile events like the Golden Globe Awards, Grammy Awards, and Academy Awards.

Billy Bush further got the nod to host other events and shows for other networks, like the Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants, both on four different occasions, and ABC’s live pre-show for the Academy Awards in 2004, 2005 and 2006, as well as the 2006 Emmy Red Carpet Special.

What happened to Billy Bush that led to him losing his reputation and ruining his career many years later occurred around this time. In mid-September 2005, while videotaping an Access Hollywood episode, Bush and Trump were having a lewd conversation that was recorded due to the fact that Trump’s microphone was active. The future U.S. president talked about a failed attempt to seduce Bush’s co-host before he went on to discuss how he gets away with groping women, saying “when you’re a star they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the pussy.”

The recording surfaced in 2006 during the presidential campaign. Bush had, at the time, left Access and became a co-host of the third hour of NBC’s Today. NBC was not satisfied with the TV host’s work which left them with no option but to suspend him as a result of the backlash his past actions received. Bush on his own part apologized, saying that he was “younger, less mature, and acted foolishly in playing along”. This did not help his case as he was later fired from his job in mid-October, 2017.

What is He Doing Now?

Following what happened to Billy Bush, the cousin to the 43rd US President, , and nephew to the 41st President was left without a job. His marriage to Sydney Davis also felt the heat caused by the incident as the pair separated right in the middle of the storm before later divorcing in July 2018.

Things later changed for Bush in the middle of 2019, on the 8th of May to be exact, when a subsidiary of Warner Bros., Telepictures announced that they would give the disgraced TV host a chance to revive his career. It was announced that he was going to be replacing Mario Lopez as the host of the syndicated television news magazine program, Extra, which would be renamed ExtraExtra. His role was scheduled to begin on the 9th of September, 2019, at the start of its 26th season.
