There have been many shows on love and relationships but hardly is any as crazy, yet interesting as Married At First Sight. Of course, love at first sight is not something that is out of the ordinary; getting married at first sight is the groundbreaker. Imagine that you are meeting someone for the first time and that also becomes your wedding day. That is exactly what this Lifetime show does as experts bring together two strangers to get married. While all the Married at First Sight couples in the UK version of the show have walked their separate ways in divorces, a few in America have still managed to be together.
The show has become very popular in the United States where it has built a legion of followers. However, the idea of arranged marriage doesn’t seem to work too well, judging by how most of the marriages have failed.
Notwithstanding, just as there are many cases of MAFS marriages failing, there are also some that have been successful thus far. Here is a look at where the first Married At First Sight couples are today with their relationships.
Married At First Sight Couples Now
1. Jamie Otis-Hehner and Doug Hehner
Status: Married
Before Jamie Otis appeared on the show, she was once on The Bachelor. However, it was on MAFS that she met the man of her dreams in Dough Hehner. The two are the first to get married on the show in the first season and are still together.
Although Jasmine suffered a miscarriage of what was supposed to be their first child, she gave birth to a daughter in 2017 and named Henley Grace.
2. Jason Carrion and Cortney Hendrix
Status: Divorced
When Jason, a wrestler, and firefighter met Cortney, a makeup artist, the two instantly fell for each other and they tied the knot. Beyond what many expected, they held things together for up to half a decade before finally announcing they were getting a divorce in 2019 after they were separated for 6 months.
With the end of their union, it leaves Jamie and Dough as the oldest couple on the show that is still together.
3. Monet Bell and Vaughn Copeland
Status: Divorced
The last couple of the FYI Series, Monet, a project manager, and Copeland became the first coupe on the show to get a divorce, having lasted only a month.
According to Bell, she joined the show after she failed to find Mr. Right on her own even as she kept dating for a long time. Unfortunately, when experts paired her with the one who was supposed to be the right one, there was so much argument and they were obviously not a match. After five weeks of trying, they decided to call it quits and proceed with their lives separately.
Other Couples That Are Still Together
While the above are the first Married At First Sight couples, there have been many more since then. Although as a TV show, it has been very successful, it has failed in getting many couples to stick together in marriage for a long time. In the first four seasons, only a couple has remained married.
There are, however, a few others that have stayed together thus far, including the following:
1. Anthony D’Amico and Ashley Petta
Status: Married
This couple is only the second couple that is still together in the first five seasons of the show. They met for the first time and fell in love in 2016 and they tied the knot. Three years later, they are not only together, but they have already started a family with the arrival of their daughter, Mila, in January 2019.
2. Shawniece Jackson and Jephte Pierre
Status: Married
In the sixth season of the show, this couple is the only one that is still married. More than that, after only a year of being together, they have gone on to start a family with the birth of their daughter Laura Denise Pierre in August 2018.
3. Danielle Bergman-Dodd and Bobby Dodd
Status: Married
In the seventh season of Married at First Sight, this is the couple that still remains together and is already blessed with a daughter, Olivia who was born in 2019.
4. Stephanie Sersen and AJ Vollmoeller
Status: Married
In Season eight, two couples are still together, and this is one. Although they are young in the marriage but they seem to have been in it for a long time.
5. Kristine Killingsworth and Keith Dewar
Status: Married
Kristine and Keith are the other two that are still together from the eighth season of the show. Interestingly, even though like all others, they met as strangers and got married, they were attracted to each other almost instantly.
