Austin Dillon is a professional race driver who drives in the NASCAR Cup Series for his grandfather’s team, the Richard Childress Racing (RCR) team. He also drives in the NASCAR Xfinity Series as well as in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Austin Dillon’s Biography
Austin Dillon was born April 27, 1990, in Lewisville, North Carolina to Dillon Tina and into a family that has a history of car racing. While his father, Mike Dillon was a NASCAR Busch Series race car driver, his brother, Tyler “Ty” Dillon is also into the same sports.
Considering the home in which he was brought up, the childhood of Austin was dominated by cars and track. He attended the Forsyth Country Day School before moving to the High Point University to major in communication on a part-time basis.
Career
Austin began his career as a racer in 2005. By 2008 at the NASCAR Camping World East Series, he was named the Rookie of the year and before long, he went with his grandfather’s team.
Years down the line, he has a number of achievements to show including the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series title in 2011, NASCAR Nationwide Series in 2013, Daytona 500 pole in 2014, Coca-Cola 600 in 2017, and the 2018 Daytona 500.
More so, as at the start of the second half of 2018, Austin has 2 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series career wins, 3 poles, and 28 top tens; 8 wins, 17 poles, and 100 top tens in the NASCAR Xfinity Series; and 7 wins, 13 poles, and 48 top tens. In the NASCAR Pinty’s Series, Dillon has recorded 1 top ten without a pole or wins.
While RCR is the team for which he has raced most, he has also raced for Curb Racing, Phoenix Racing, and Stewart-Haas Racing among others.
Family – Grandfather
As indicated, Dillon is from a family that puts emphasis on car racing. One of the most important parts of that is his grandfather, Richard Childress. Just as his son-in-law and grandsons, Childress was also a NASCAR driver before he retired from the sports. After that, he went on to found the Richard Childress Racing.
The RCR is a very popular racing team that competes in both the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series as well as the Xfinity Series. While Richard’s grandson, Ty Dillon drove for the team, Austin Dillon who confessed that his grandfather has done everything for him, still drives for the team as at 2018.
Wife and Girlfriend (Fiancée)
As regards his relationships, even though Austin Dillon is a good-looking man who many women would want to date, he has not been one that has been in many relationships in the past. Publicly, he has been known to have had serious relationships with just two women.
His first girlfriend was Taylor Walker. Before they got into the relationship, Walker had a relationship with American football quarterback, Will Grier. It was after the relationship ended that she was linked to the race driver in 2014. Unfortunately, things didn’t go smoothly as Dillon and the Miss University Primetime ended the relationship not too long after they began seeing each other.
After the relationship, he got into yet another with Whitney Ward. Having dated for a short while, the NASCAR man decided to make Ward his fiancée in 2016 with an engagement in the Bahamas. Before then, the relationship between the two lovers was not kept hidden from the public as such, after the engagement, they both took to social media to announce it.
Whitney Ward is a graduate of Communications major and marketing minor from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. She was a cheerleader and captain when she was a student and upon graduation, she got named the Tennessee Titans cheerleaders.
A year after their engagement, the RCR driver made Whitney Ward his wife at an event that took place at the Childress Vineyards in North Carolina. That was precisely on 9th December 2017.
Height
Inasmuch as he is a good-looking man, Austin Dillon will not pass for the tallest man in many gatherings. That stated, he is of average height and he has a very good build. In numbers, the Daytona 500 champion stands at 5 feet 9 inches and he has a weight of 185 lbs.
