Carter Page is not a name that was popular in the public scene until 2016 when he got involved in the campaign for Donald Trump’s presidential race, serving as a foreign-policy adviser. He is a managing partner of Global Energy Capital, a company he founded. Alongside some others who have worked as foreign-policy advisers for the Trump campaign, he is also a focus in the investigation into the Russian interference in the 2016 elections.
Who is Carter Page?
The former Trump campaign foreign-policy adviser was born Carter William Page on June 3, 1971, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was brought up in Poughkeepsie, New York, by his parents – Allan Robert Page and Rachel Page.
As regards his education, Page went to Our Lady of Lourdes High School from where he graduated in 1989. Next, he moved to the United States Naval Academy where he graduated top of his class, and then he got an MA from Georgetown University.
With a father who worked with the Central Hudson Gas & Electric Company as a manager and executive, it was rather easy for Carter Page to find his footing in the corporate world after he served with the US Navy for five years. But before then, he worked with Merrill Lynch as an investment banker, having attended the New York University and obtained an MBA.
With Merrill Lynch, he served in Moscow where he worked as one of its vice presidents although that was not as big a position in real life as it sounds, with only little to no decision-making power. He left the firm in 2008 to launch his Global Energy Capital alongside James Richard and Sergei Yatsenko.
However, as of 2017, he was the company’s only employee, and not so much is known about the firm which had its main focus on oil and gas. It is in this same way that many other things about him are not very clear.
Who Is The Wife Or Is He Gay?
Before his involvement in the Trump campaign and subsequently his ties to Russia and his name popping up in the ongoing investigation, there is hardly much that is known about Carter Page. In fact, he is also little-known even in the corporate world in Russia where he spent a long time working.
What this means is that his relationship life has also remained much hidden from the public. In addition to this, there is no record to show that he has a wife or even suggest that he has ever been married. This does not mean he is gay since there is no record to support that.
How Is He Connected To Russia?
As stated above, even before he had anything to do with the Trump campaign, Carter Page had links to Russia where he worked for more than seven years. According to him, he worked with the staff of the Kremlin as an informal advisor. That was in 2013 towards the G-20 summit which had energy issues as some of the points on the agenda.
Beyond just his presence in Russia, Page has always been said to have a soft side for Russia or to put it better, he has always had pro-Vladimir Putin sentiments which led him to cultivate critical ideas regarding the foreign policy of the United States towards Russia.
On March 21, 2016, Carter Page got appointed by Donald Trump to serve in his campaign as the foreign policy adviser. By September, investigations would begin on allegations of Russian interference in the elections and contacts between some members of the Trump campaign and the Russian officials. One of those at the center of it was Page and that led to his resignation from the campaign team.
Page got more entangled in the controversy after his name was linked to the Trump–Russia dossier which contained allegations of conspiracy between the Russian government and the Trump campaign during the 2016 presidential election.
While others like Paul Manafort, George Papadopoulos, and Michael Flynn who were also involved in the investigation would later plead guilty to various charges, there is yet to be any case against Carter Page who has testified before the House Intelligence Committee and is still being investigated by the FBI.
