To build a truly unique platform, the Griffin and his two co-founders enlisted the help of experienced heads including the chief editors at Joystiq, Kotaku, and The Escapist. To differentiate themselves from other platforms within the gaming industry, Griffin and his pack focused on penning long-form feature content, and video content. They also chose to focus on writing about the stories of people behind the popular video games rather than the games themselves.

Griffin is credited for producing some of Polygon’s most successful video content including the popular Monster Factory and Let’s Play series.

The show has received largely positive reviews since its inception. It was consistently among the top 10 iTunes comedy podcasts in 2010 and received good reviews from critics such as David Anthony and Colin Griffith.

In 2016, a deal was signed with NBC’s video streaming platform Seeso to produce a television series adaptation of the podcast. The first season of the series premiered in February 2017. In June of the same year, the series was sold to Otter Media for distribution on VRV, their video streaming platform.

The Adventure Zone was originally an episode on the My Brother, My Brother, and Me podcast but was eventually made into its own podcast in 2014. The podcast is co-hosted by Griffin, his brothers, and their father, Clint Mcelroy. It is a biweekly podcast that shows the family role-playing games such as Dungeons & Dragons and other popular games.

The veteran podcaster has also shown his voice-acting ability by working on a few animated television shows, including Clarence, Camp Camp, and Big City Greens.
