Who Is Heather Cox? Biography, Height, Husband, ESPN and NBC Career

Sometimes it’s obvious that some people are cut out for certain fields of endeavor. For some reason, some people figure it out early enough to harness their potential. For Heather Cox, her life has simply revolved around sports, whether it is as a volleyball player or as a journalist, she pretty much lives for sports. Over an impressive 25 year career in journalism, Heather has transversed the length and breadth of the United States covering the NBA, Volleyball championships, and college football.

Biography – Who is Heather Cox?

Heather Cox was born on June 3, 1970. At birth, her names were Heather Schoeny. She is American and was born and raised in Jonesville, North Carolina.

Heather enrolled at the University of the Pacific in 1988 to study Communications, but it was her exploits with the University’s Volleyball team that brought her to national prominence.

During her time at the women’s volleyball team, they reached the semi-final and also finished in second place in the National Championship in 1990. While she was playing at College, the quality of her performances meant she was called up to the United States National Volleyball Team. She was a mainstay on the side between 1987 and 1995. Cox was part of the National Team at the United States Olympic Festival in 1990.

She graduated in 1992 from the University with a degree in communications. Cox had a stint with professional Volleyball with the Sacramento Star in the National Volleyball Association. She captained the team.

ESPN Career

Heather’s journey with ESPN began in 1994 when she got a call to cover the NBA for ESPN as a reporter. Being that ABC’s sports division was merged into ESPN Inc., Cox often appeared on ABC as a result of her affiliation with ESPN.

She was also in charge of NBA and college football on ABC. Her role later expanded into college football on ESPN, NCAA basketball on ESPN, NCAA basketball on ABC, the WNBA, and professional volleyball.

ESPN’s coverage of the men’s and women’s NCAA Volleyball Championships and women’s NCAA basketball also needed an analyst and Heather was drafted in.

In 2012, After Erin Andrews left his role as anchor of ABC’s Saturday Night College Football Game of the Week, Cox was named as his replacement. She has interviewed hundreds of players and worked on numerous collegiate match-ups.

NBC Career

Heather Cox joined the NBC team on a full-time basis in August 2016. Her first assignment with NBC was as a volleyball reporter for the 2016 Rio Olympics. After the Olympics, she worked at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Paralympic Games as a reporter. She was a poolside reporter for the American team during the swimming competitions.

She is presently a sideline reporter for NBC Sports’ Thursday Night Football coverage. Prior to her full-time work with NBC, in 2003, she served as a reporter on NBC’s AVP pro beach volleyball coverage. She also worked on NBC’s coverage of 2004, 2008, and 2012 Olympic Games. In Athens, in 2004 she covered the volleyball and beach volleyball competitions.

Her work at NBC also covers the Golf Channel where she works as a reporter on specially selected sports events.

Heather Cox Husband

Heather is married to Bill Cox. The pair met in College at the University of the Pacific where Bill also studied Communications. While Heather was engrossed in her love for Volleyball, Bill was no sports pushover either. He equally excelled as a football player.

Bill’s career focus has not toed the line of sports like his wife Heather. He has worked at the Horn Group as an Account Supervisor. He has also worked as a Public Relations Consultant for Brio Technology. Bill is currently a consultant for Fair Isaac Corporation

The couple is blessed with two kids, a daughter Aly and a son Will.

Height, Body Measurement

Heather Cox has an absolutely fabulous physique, surely helped by the hours of intense physical training that comes with the life of a professional athlete. As a former Volleyball player, her impressive height of 6 Feet (1.82 meters) must have been an asset on the court.

Heather is also a very beautiful lady; for a sportswoman, she boasts a gorgeous hourglass figure, with her vital statistics at 37-26-38. Heather weighs an estimated 67 kg.
