Besides being the Bodak Yellow singer, Cardi B‘s younger sister and date at the 2018 Grammy where she stunned on the red carpet with her eclectic fashion style, wearing a show-stopping white sequined gown with a cape, Hennessy Carolina is a star in her own right. She is a social media and television personality, and an aspiring fashion designer.

In fact, she has been on the celebrity scene as long as her sister has. Hennessy was a regular alongside the rapper on the reality TV series, Love & Hip Hop: New York and has also appeared on several red carpets with her rapper sister. She also got her shine on the third season of MTV’s The Challenge: Champs vs. Stars. From her age, net worth to girlfriend, we got you well covered. Read on.

Who Is Hennessy Carolina? Age

Hennessy Carolina Almánzar was born on December 22, 1995, in The Bronx, New York City, U.S. She is of mixed nationality with a father who is of Dominican descent and a Trinidadian mother. Carolina was raised alongside her older sister, Cardi B in Highbridge, a Latino-majority neighborhood in the South Bronx part of New York City.

She was named after her father’s favorite drink after he showed up drunk at her birth. The unusual name, in turn, inspired her sister’s moniker, Bacardi which eventually turned into her professional name, Cardi B. The 5’1″ beauty has been captivated by the arts since she was a child and attended arts and performing schools to grow her talent. She was also noted to be made for the camera and television by her teachers who gave a nod to her artistic abilities and fashion styles (even as a child in elementary schools, she wore heels to school). She also nursed the dream to be a fashion designer while growing up.

Hennessy attended Renaissance High School for Musical Theater & Technology, a small vocational high school on the Herbert H. Lehman High School campus. She is noted for her styles which accentuates her petite frame by effortlessly going from tomboy chic to red carpet ready faster than you can think. Whether she mixes and matches high-waisted pants, heeled booties, and vintage berets, she always cuts an It fashion girl look.

Her sister may be firmly entrenched in the rap scene but Hennessy is set to blaze the trail in the fashion industry. Plans are in place to create her own fashion line which is set to be launched in 2019. Moreover, she is pursuing a career as a stylist and designer at the Fashion Institute of Technology. The burgeoning fashionista also has her sights set high. She envisions she would dress every celebrity on the red carpet.

Though she debuted on television when she appeared on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop, making true her teacher’s prediction about her, she defeated the nervousness she felt after that time to make a comeback to the screen. Hennessy Carolina competed on the third season of the game show, The Challenge: Champs vs. Stars. The show features competitors who engage in athletic challenges to raise money for the charity of the contestant’s choice which was what intrigued Carolina to sign up for The Challenge. The cast includes Drake Bell, Selita Ebanks, Louise Hazel, Arian Foster among others. She chose BronxWorks as her charity as a way to pay homage to her hometown. She spent only three episodes on the show.

The pretty lady probably prioritized her budding fashion design career over TV opportunities. Furthermore, she is building an empire on Instagram with a following of 3.7 million which gives a nod to her growing popularity.

Net Worth

Hennessy has firmly fixed herself on the celebrity scene and as such, she receives the dividends that come with the status. Besides the fame, she also boasts of a healthy bank account which is steadily growing. Her net worth is estimated at $250,000.

Girlfriend

She came out as bisexual in 2017. While it is known that she dated several men in the past, the question of who her new love interest is was left unanswered for some time. Finally, her identity was revealed. Hennessy Carolina is dating Michelle Diaz who she met on Instagram in 2017. She got swooned by her nice outfit and bone structure and thus, reached out to her. Though she hinted that she had always imagined her future with a man, she couldn’t be happier in a same-sex relationship. Her sister has also lauded her sister’s openness to her orientation on Twitter.

While she is seemingly on cloud nine with her girlfriend, it wasn’t easy for her to get her family, especially her mom to her side. Going by the fact that her mom is from the Caribbean where people are mostly homophobic, getting her to accept her new status was a bit of a hard nut to crack. She later taught her family that she need not necessarily do things because that’s what others or even society expect of her. Eventually, they learned to accept her and her version of how life works. In turn, she feels free and spreads her message: Love is love no matter what gender, as much as she possibly can.
