His breakthrough, however, came after he earned his first Academy Award for Best Actor in the film One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest which was produced in 1975.
Jack Nicholson’s first experience as a scriptwriter was with the 1967 counterculture film titled The Trip. He later co-wrote the 1968 satirical musical adventure movie Head. Nicholson has also directed three films, among them is the 1990 mystery film The Two Jakes and the sequel to Chinatown.
He had his 12th Academy Award nominations in the 1970s, making him the most nominated male actor in the Academy’s history. In 2013, it was announced that the legendary actor was retiring at the age of 76. It was thereafter rumored that he could no longer remember his line while acting because he has memory issues.
