JaMychal Green was born on the 21st of June, 1990 in Montgomery to Alonzo and Rita Green. JaMychal started playing basketball while in high school. He led the St. Jude Educational Institute to the Class A State Championship in 2006 and 2008. He was even voted the MVP of the 2006 Championship. While in High school, he played for the USA National team at the FIBA Americas U-18 Championship in 2008.

Moving on to College, JaMychal Green chose to commit to the University of Alabama. He had other offers but chose Alabama because he wanted to play alongside Andrew Steele and Tony Mitchell, who were his close friends. In his first season, having played 31 games with an average of 11.6 points per game, he was ranked first in rebounding among Southeastern Conference (SEC) freshmen; but he came second among players with five double-doubles. For his second season, which was not as successful as the first, he had the ninth position in the SEC in rebounding (7.2).

Later on, he was called up to be a part of the 2009 Old-Spice Classic Tournament team and was instrumental in winning the game with a late winning shot at just five seconds on the clock. This earned him the SEC Player of the Week. Thanks to his exceptional skills, he has several accolades such as being the 2008 Alabama Mr. Basketball and a three-time Alabama Sportswriters Association Player of the Year. He also has a silver medal for being a part of the USA National U-18 Team.

JaMychal Green, having being undrafted at the 2012 NBA Draft, joined the San Antonio Spurs during the summer league. By October 2012, he was signed but days after, he was waived and acquired by Austin Toros of the NBA’s development league, making him an affiliate player of San Antonio Spurs. He played a total of 44 games with his average points being 12.3.

In July 2013, he joined the Los Angeles Clippers but moved on shortly after to Choral Roanne, a basketball team in France, after being waived by the Clippers in October. Between 2014 and 2015, JaMychal Green played for San Antonio Spurs and for the Austin Spurs as well. Upon the expiration of his contract with Austin Spurs, Green moved on to join the Memphis Grizzlies with a 10-day initial contract.

Shortly after, JaMychal Green signed a multi-year contract with the team. He has been on the Memphis Team since 2015 and has churned out amazing results.
