Justin Miller is an accomplished baseball player who represents the Washington Nationals in the Major League Baseball (MLB). Prior to his stint with his current team, the baseball star previously played for the Colorado Rockies and the Detroit Tigers.

While in college, Miller honed his fledgling baseball career with Bakersfield College and later Fresno State University. The pitcher was also part of the 2008 College World Series-champion Fresno State Bulldogs baseball team and was greatly admired for his prowess and unique skills on the ball field.

Who Is Justin Miller (Baseball Player)?

He is a prominent baseball pitcher who currently plays for the Washington National baseball team. Miller was born Justin Ryan Miller in Bakersfield, California, on June 13, 1987. Unfortunately, further details about the pitcher’s biography, family background, ancestry, and siblings are yet to be made public.

Speaking of his educational achievements, Justin attended Bakersfield College and later the California State University, Fresno, where he made a name for himself as one of the University’s finest baseball pitchers.

Professional Career

Justin Miller launched his professional career in 2008 after he was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 16th round of the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft.

The Bakersfield-born pitcher started out with the Spokane Indians of the Northwest League (the Rangers′ Class A-Short Season affiliate) and would make 14 appearances and posted an earned run average (ERA) of 5.06 with 12 walks in 21 1⁄3 innings of work and 24 strikeouts, moving 2-for-2 in save opportunities.

Justin Miller was promoted to the Frisco RoughRiders of the Class AA Texas League in 2011 and later spent the entire season there, appearing 48 times for the team and pitching 69 2⁄3 innings. The star ended the year with an impressive  24 walks, an ERA of 1.81, 77 strikeouts, and a record of 9–1. He was later released by the Rangers on September 1, 2013.

On September 18, 2013, Justin was signed by the Detroit Tigers and was subsequently added to the team’s 40-man roster on November 20, 2013. He made his debut appearance in the 2014 season with the Toledo Mud Hens in the Class AAA International League and was later promoted by the Tigers to the major leagues on April 18, 2014. Miller ended the 2014 season with eight appearances, paving way for seven runs on 14 hits over 12 1⁄3 innings, with two walks, five strikeouts, and an ERA of 5.11 for the Tigers.

Miller’s stint with the Colorado Rockies officially began in 2015 after signing a minor-league contract with the team on November 22, 2014. The pitcher would begin the season with the New Britain Rock Cats of the Class AA Eastern League and pitch in six games for the team.

Impressed with his record of 1–1 and an ERA of 0.84 with four walks and 10 strikeouts in 12 2⁄3 innings of work, Miller was promoted on May 6 to the Albuquerque Isotopes in the Class AAA Pacific Coast League by the Rockies. He ended the year 2015 with 34 game appearances, pitching 33 1⁄3 innings with 11 walks, 38 strikeouts, and an ERA of 4.05, with one blown-save, a record of 3–3, and one save for Colorado.

The following year, being 2016, Justin made 40 appearances for the team, pitching 42 2⁄3 innings with 20 walks, 46 strikeouts, and an ERA of 5.70, with a record of 1–1. He went on to sign a minor-league deal with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on November 1, 2016. He was later signed to the Salt Lake Bees of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League.

He was released by The Angels on July 11, 2017, after pitching in 38 games with eight walks, 37 strikeouts, and an ERA of 5.48 in 46 innings of work, posting a record of 5–1, moving 9-for-11 in save opportunities for Salt Lake.

Justin Miller was signed to a minor-league deal by the Washington Nationals on January 12, 2018. He was subsequently assigned to the Syracuse Chiefs of the Class AAA International League after attending extended spring training in the same year.

The pitcher’s 2018 season began with nine appearances for the Chiefs. He also pitched 13 2⁄3 scoreless innings with three walks, and 23 strikeouts and earning a save in his only save opportunity. Miller was called up to the major league by the Washington Nationals On May 25, 2018, after his contract was selected by the team.
