Sean Stephenson is a typical example of how physical disability should not have to hinder one from harnessing their innate potentials. Born with osteogenesis imperfecta, also known as the birth bone disease, Stephenson overcame all odds to make a lot out of his life. He is a celebrated motivational speaker, therapist, and self-help author. Sean has been featured in many TV shows and even worked for former POTUS Bill Clinton. Here is his incredibly inspiring story.
Who Is Sean Stephenson? Bio
Sean Stephenson is a man you need to know about, more so if you are struggling with insecurities and self-image. He was born Sean Clinch Stephenson on May 5, 1979, in Chicago Children’s Hospital, Chicago Illinois, US. On the day of his birth, doctors quickly discovered that Stephenson had a rare genetic disorder known as osteogenesis imperfecta which in plain English means brittle bone disease.
As the name implies, the condition causes the sufferer to develop brittle bones that could fracture severely. As a result, the victim develops stunted growth. On the day of his birth, doctors had given him no more than 24 hours to live as many of his bones were shattered during delivery. Luckily, Stepehson survived the first, second, third day and went on to exist like every other human being on the planet.
However, his growing up was far from that of every other normal child. Young Stephenson had to grow up with excruciating pain and as he grew more into adulthood he began suffering from insecurity. Fortunately, Stephenson was able to snap out of insecurity and soon began motivating others on how to deal with the mind-cancer.
By his teens, Stephenson began giving speeches. Thanks to the Make A Wish Foundation, Sean Stephenson was able to meet with his idol and fellow motivational speaker Tony Robbins. Thanks to the invaluable tips from Robbins, Stephenson only became a better man improving not only his career but his health as well.
Determined to break the seeming barriers of life, Stephenson enrolled in DePaul University to study for a degree in political science. He graduated in 2001. While in school, he worked with the campaign teams of Bill Clinton and Illinois Congressman Bill Lipinski. Also in 2001, the year of his college graduation, Stephenson published his first book titled; “How You(th) Can Succeed!: Transforming Dreams into Reality for Young Adults.”
He also put back his cape on and continued saving destinies with his motivational words. Passionate about the impact he was making in the lives of those who sought answers to personal issues, Stephenson returned to school to learn more about therapy. He enrolled in Bennett/Stellar University renowned for her specialty in hypnotherapy and neuro-linguistic programming. He also studied at American Pacific University, now Kona University where he earned a doctorate in Clinical Hypnotherapy.
Sean Stephenson is now a certified therapist and operates from his office in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois. In 2009, Sean published his second book “Get Off Your “But”: How to End Self-Sabotage and Stand Up for Yourself.” As a motivational speaker, Sean gets paid between $10,000 and $30,000 per speech.
Family – His Wife (Mindie Kniss)
Sean Stephenson’s barely 3 feet height didn’t keep him from becoming one of the most sought-after therapists and neither did he also let it hinder him from finding love.
Stephenson is married to a fellow motivational speaker, Mindie Kniss. He met her in 2009 through a mutual friend and on May 14, 2011, they were engaged. They tied the knot on September 14, 2012. Sean’s wife was born on 2nd October 1978 (same birthday as Mahatma Gandhi), making them both age mates. She stands at 4 feet 11 inches tall.
The couple met when Mindie was going through a tough period in her life. In 2008, she was laid off by the same company twice after which she embarked on a journey to become an entrepreneur which soon left her in debt of about $1000,000. Ultimately, she overcame and is now dedicating her time to developing her lucrative business of training people on business and personal development.
An ONTRAPORT Certified Consultant, Mindie Kniss has given an address at the National Speakers Association. She holds degrees in theology, creative writing, and philosophy. In addition to running her firm Lucra, Kniss is the host of the BizReads podcast.
Stephenson and his wife have since their marriage been victims of online trolls mostly targeted at their sexual life. Many have suggested that Stephenson would be unable to satisfy Mindie sexually, however, the couple has strongly disputed this. Mindie says Stephenson is the most sexual man she has ever encountered in her life.
Many have also accused Mindie of being with Sean only because of his money. They do have a plan to start a family together.
