Steve Byrne is popularly known in the U.S as a stand-up comedian and actor. He has been featured in many comedy shows and tv series and has thus gained tremendous recognition in the comedy industry as one of its most innovative and sought-after performers.
He is also popular for creating and starring as Steve Sullivan in the TV comedy series Sullivan & Son which aired from 2012 to 2014. Steve featured as Alex the dancer in the 2008 comedy Don’t shoot the pharmacist, and in addition, played the role of a dancer in Four Christmases. Who Is Steve Byrne? – Brief Bio
Steve was born in Freehold, New Jersey on the 21st day of July 1974, however, he grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is of Irish and Korean descent. His father, Steven Byrne, is Irish and his mother, Ok Cha Byrne, is Korean.
Byrne has a younger brother, William Byrne, who he has mentioned during his comedies. William served in the U.S Army, just like their father. Steve attended Hampton High School, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is also a graduate of Kent State University, Kent, Ohio.
He loves hockey and has been playing the game since he was six. He is a big fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins and his favorite players are Dave Bolland, Mario Lemieux, Ron Francis, and Sidney Crosby.
His favorite movies of all time include MacGruber, A Christmas Story, Swingers, Superman, Couples Retreat, and Made. While his favorite TV shows are Saturday Night Live, Lost, and The Twilight Zone.
Career
After bagging a degree in theatre from Kent State University, he moved to New York City in search of a job. In NYC, he became a member of the Carolines Comedy Club, his love for stand-up comedy was re-ignited from there, and from that point on he was hooked and began aspiring to start a career as a stand-up comedian.
His first debut on stage as a stand-up comedian was at Stand Up New York on September 30, 1997, after he had gathered experience and exposure by working at the comedy club. He had to spend the first seven years of his stand-up career learning on the job and getting known for being passionate about being on stage as much as he could.
In the year 2003, Steve Byrne set out to do a documentary film and came up with 13 or Bust showing where he did 13 shows all in one night at every comedy club in Manhattan, and in the process breaking the record for most sets ever in one night by a comedian.
In 2006, an American basic cable and satellite television channel Comedy Central aired Steve’s first half-hour special, Comedy Central Presents Steve Byrne. He followed it up with a one-hour special on Comedy Central in 2008 titled Steve Byrne’s Happy Hour and on Sunday, July 25, 2010, he also had another one-hour special on Comedy Central titled The Byrne Identity.
In 2012, he created and starred as Steve Sullivan in the TV comedy series Sullivan & Son. The show was aired for 3 seasons on TBS. As a truly international comedian, Steve Byrne has featured in events packed with sold-out crowds around the world. He has performed in many national comedy tours and is considered a shoo-in whenever a comedy show is being staged.
Vince Vaughn‘s Wild West Comedy Tour, The Kims of Comedy, The Jameson Comedy Tour, The Camel Cigarettes Sin City Tour, Myspace Comedy tour are all examples of comedy shows he has graced.
He also appeared in Just for Laughs Festivals held in Toronto, Montreal, and Chicago respectively featured in HBO’s US Comedy Arts Festival in Las Vegas and the CanWest Comedy Fest in Vancouver. Due to his love for the US troops, he was also one of the main acts in several USO tours in Japan, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Guam.
Steve has opened tours for several musical acts like Mariah Carey, Kanye West, Puddle of Mudd, Kings of Leon, Modest Mouse, Horton Heat, Spoon, and many more.

In June 2011, Steve Byrne walked down the aisle with his heartthrob Jessica Corde in Chicago. They have remained together ever since without rumors and scandals. The couple is both parents to a beautiful daughter Olivia Byrne.
