The Bollywood actor and comedian was born on 31st May 1979 in Dehradun but he is said to have spent his early days in Africa as he was a student at the Indian Language School in Lagos, Nigeria before transferring to The Lawrence School, Sanawar. His college education was done at Knox College, Illinois, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Theater. While at Knox, Vir was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity’s unit which calls itself the Delta Theta chapter.
Career
Vir Das started his career as a comedian during his days in Knox with his first appearance in Brown Men Can’t Hump which was shown at the Harbach Theatre. Vir also won the Richter Scholarship for Theatre and Colton Performance Award for Outstanding Achievement in Acting from his college, Knox which paved the way for him to improve his skill as a method actor in Harvard.
The comedian who also writes and directs some of his works made a debut of six of his works at the Habitat Center in India titled Brown Men Can’t Hump, Not for Members Only, Bored of The Things!, Who Let the Das Out?, Son of a Switch! and VIRagra. In addition to that, he is said to have been able to perform in more than 100 comedy shows in India’s top cities since 2003. Vir Das has also worked as a TV host for comedy shows on channels like Zoom and Zee Sports which has been changed to TEN Action+. He has worked with SAB TV and CNN-IBN where he is the anchor of the show Now Not Showing.
