The player was first drafted by the Sacramento Kings during the 2017 NBA draft at Gonzaga University. In that year he was selected as the tenth overall player, but later he was transferred to the Portland Blazers.
The Power Forward was born on November 19, 1997, as Zach Collins in northern Las Vegas, Nevada. His nationality is American, while he has a white ethnic background. Zach started playing basketball at a very young age and from high school pursued his dream of becoming a superstar.
He attended Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, Nevada in the United States. There he played basketball with the high school team and led them to win four state championships from 2013 to 2016.
During his high school career, he was one of the greatest players on the court, along with others such as Stephen Zimmerman, Bishop Gorman, and Chase Jeter, who were also 7-footers. In high school he averaged 14 rebounds and 17.3 points per game, earning him the Nevada Gatorade Player of the Year award. At the end of his high school career, Jack Collins was awarded four stars by ESPN and Scout.com, five stars by Rivals.com, and 247Sports, while he was nominated for the All-American Game 2016. Zach was also involved in his college basketball career at Gonzaga University.
When he played for the Gonzaga Bulldogs, Collins averaged 5.9 rebounds and 10 points per game as a rookie in the 2016/17 season. He also led the Bulldogs to their first NCAA Division 1 tournament.
