The American actor and director will celebrate his 50th birth anniversary in 2018. He was born in Uganda as Phillip Akon Lewis. That was on the 4th day of September 1968.

From what we gathered, his father, Delano Eugene Lewis – the former United States Ambassador to South Africa (1999-2001) was working as the Peace Corps associate and country director for Nigeria and Uganda when Phill was birthed.

Sometime in January 1993, Phill Lewis was sentenced to a year in jail after he was convicted of manslaughter for killing a woman while driving drunk. His victim was a 21-year-old nanny from Portugal, Isabel Duarte.

He also received another one-year jail sentence for the drunk driving charge against him, and two years of probation with 350 hours of community service. Altogether, Phill was sentenced to five years in prison. However, four years was suspended because of his activities with a prison theatre troupe after he was arrested.
