Emma was born on the 16th day of November in the year 1990 in Brookfield, Brisbane, Australia and named Emma Ishta Douglas-Powell. She belongs to a white ethnicity and holds Australian nationality. She has a younger brother named Thomas Douglas-Powell born on 16th September 1992 who is a professional volleyball player.
In her early years, Emma was enrolled at St Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School in Corinda, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia where she had her high school education before being accepted into the prestigious music programme of the Queensland University of Technology. She, however, deferred her admission here to pursue her modelling interest which at the time was where her interest was in.
Emma Ishat started modelling when she was as young as 13 years old and continued doing so till after her high school education. Being beautiful and talented, she worked with the famous IMG Models at age 15 which gave her the opportunity to model for brands like Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, D&G, DKNY. She relocated to New York in 2009 to model for some of these big brands. Her modelling career saw her make star appearances in various modelling events as well as make celebrity model poses for various ‘hot’ magazines.
In 2014, her blossoming career began to see her venture into acting as she landed guest roles in television series like Black Box (as Cara in episode: Kodachrome), Manhattan Love Story (as Catharine in episode: Pilot), Power (as Bella in episode: This Is Real). She starred in her first film titled I Smile Back in 2015 as Katrina while she got her first lead role in a television series in 2015–17 Stitchers as Kirsten Clark. The Freeform series premiered on 2nd June 2015, had 31 episodes but, however, in Septembre 2017, it was announced that the series had been cancelled after just three seasons.
Her life has not been all about pursuing her career and being the best of who she wants to be, no. She has a love life as well and is in fact, married with a child. Emma Ishtar married Daniel James McCabe on the 8th day of September 2012. Daniel is a professional playwright and actor. The couple appeared in the play The Flood which premiered at the New York International Fringe Festival in 2014 where it won the Award for Excellence in Playwriting. She gave birth to their first child, a son on June 16, 2016, and is also a stepmother to her husband’s daughter. While nursing her baby, she advocated for mothers to always breastfeed their baby and take proper care of them as it should properly be done.
