Johnathan Hillstrand – Bio, Age, Married, Wife, Daughter, Net Worth

The second season of the Discovery Channel documentary TV series Deadliest Catch introduced fans to FV Time Bandit and its six-man crew, including its captains and brothers, Andy and Johnathan Hillstrand – some of the finest and interesting faces the show has to offer.

From then onwards, we have come to see more of Johnathan, a third-generation licensed fisherman who brings fun to the show while also being a true captain. He is the younger brother of Andy Hillstrand, a star on Deadliest Catch.

Johnathan Hillstrand – Bio, Age

It was in Homer, Arkansas that Johnathan Hillstrand was born on August 5, 1962, to a father who was also a fisherman and was raised by a father who was likewise a fisherman. Because it is something that has almost always been in the family, Johnathan kept the family “tradition” by sticking to fishing since he was a child. He was brought up as the second eldest child in a family of five.

By the time he was only three, he had already started sailing with his father on commercial vessels, together with his brothers, and because of this, he became accustomed to fishing very early. Thanks to this, he became a fisherman at the tender age of 7.

Although he went to school, he decided not to go beyond high school and as soon as he was through with that, instead of going to college, he settled as a full-time fisherman who fished everything from crab to lobster, stretching off the New England coast.

His mother is Nancy Hillstrand and her life, just as that of her husband, revolves around the aquatic world. She is a wild fish activist. His father, John Hillstrand is as stated, a fisherman.

Johnathan Hillstrand became popular since the second season of Deadliest Catch and has appeared in all the seasons alongside his brother with their Time Bandit vessel. His family is known for fishing but is also involved in a lot of other businesses such as Time Bandit Entertainment. The family also owns Time Bandit Fireworks and Time Bandit Spirits among other businesses.

In addition to that, he joined Andy Hillstrand and Malcolm MacPherson to write and publish the book Time Bandit: Two Brothers, the Bering Sea, and One of the World’s Deadliest Jobs which is a biographical work of Andy Hillstrand and Johnathan Hillstrand. The book was first published in 2008.

Married, Wife, And Daughter

Johnathan Hillstrand is a married man who has walked down the aisle twice in the past. There is no information regarding his first marriage as he has maintained a rather private life. The union was long before he came by fame and fortune and it produced two sons.

The second woman to become his wife is Heather Hamilton. The two dated for a rather long time before they decided to tie the knot. It has been reported that they first met in the church before they began dating and after a long while, they got married in 2017.

Even though there have been many questions asked about his daughter, there is nothing available in the public domain about a female child as it is only his son, Scott, who has also appeared on the TV show with his father and uncles that are known.

Net Worth

As regards his fortune, Johnathan Hillstrand has a net worth that is estimated at $2.2 million. He recorded such a good net worth from his life on the waters as a fisherman and the co-captain of the Time Bandit Vessel which he co-owns with his brothers. Also, he has made good earnings from his appearance on the reality show, Deadliest Catch.

In 2017, tragedy struck when a member of his crew, while working on the vessel (Time Bandit), lost his right hand and forearm following the explosion of a firecracker which was in the launcher he was handling. Because of the tragedy which ended his career as a fisherman, he sued Johnathan and his brother who was later made to pay him $1.4 Million.

His loss would have been even worse as he was sued by Discovery Channel for a massive $3 million. This was a result of a shooting conflict caused by a misunderstanding on the part of the brothers.
