Kiran Chetry Biography
Kiran Chetry was born on August 26, 1974, in Patan, Nepal to Hom and Nancy Chetry. Kiran’s mum, a Ukrainian – Dutch with a bit of German ancestry met Hom a Nepalese while she was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Nepal. Little Kiran was only seven months old when she and her family emigrated to the United States.
As a child, Kiran grew up in Maryland where she attended the Montgomery Blair High School in Maryland. She was an active member of the student government. After High School, Kiran Chetry proceeded to the University of Maryland’s College of Journalism where she studied for a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Broadcast Journalism. She was a member of the Alpha Pi chapter of Delta Delta Delta sorority.
Her career took off in 1995, she was hired by WICU-TV in Erie, Pennsylvania as an anchor of health-related issues. Her future husband Chris Knowles also worked at WICU-TV at the time.
Kiran’s big break came in 2001 when she got an offer to join cable news network Fox News Channel as news and general reporter. For the six years she spent at Fox News, she was an anchor for Fox News Live, Fox & Friends First, and subsequently the weekend morning news program, Fox & Friends Weekend.
After a contractual dispute in 2007, Kiran jumped ship to CNN where she has gone on to co-host on American Morning, anchored Anderson Cooper 360, Paula Zahn Now, CNN Newsroom, and Errol Barnett a CNN International news show
Kiran’s Relationship With Chris Knowles
Kiran and Chris first met each other while they were both working at WICU-TV. At the time, Kiran was an upcoming journalist just hired as a reporter. Chris Knowles, on the other hand, was a meteorologist who had risen to become an established prime-time news anchor for the station.
They fell in love, got married, and the union is blessed with two children. But, how many times do we as onlookers get the impression that everything looks rosy from the outside until the otherwise hidden cracks to begin to show up in the open? The relationship between Chris Knowles and Kiran Chetry was looking just fine until news of their separation broke.
