Who Is Nukaaka Coster-Waldau?
Nukaaka Coster-Waldau was born Sascha Nukaka Motzfeldt to Vivi and Josef Motzfeldt on the 23rd of February, 1971, in Uummannaq, Greenland. It is not clear what her mother did for a living, but her father, on the other hand, was a high-profile politician. She is of Inuit, German and Norwegian descent.
Details about Coster-Waldau’s early years and childhood are not known. It is not clear what school she attended, however, it is said that she had a keen interest in modeling and acting from a very young age. With the support of her parents, Coster-Waldau went ahead to participate and win the Miss Greenland pageant in 1990, which automatically qualified her to participate in the 1990 Miss Universe Pageant. The then 19-year-old beauty queen went ahead to finish in 19th place in the preliminaries, which is the highest placement Greenland has ever received in the competition.
Following her exploits in modeling and beauty pageants, Nukaaka Coster-Waldau moved to launch an acting career. She made her acting debut in 1998, first appearing in the drama film Heart of Light and then in Vildspor. For unknown reasons, Coster-Waldau moved away from the acting scene for a few years before making a return to appear in an episode of the television series, Forsvar (2004). In 2007, she was cast to play a journalist in the series Forbrydelsen and she also played the role of Camillas Veninde in White Night (2007). As mentioned above, Nukaaka Coster-Waldau’s father, who was born Josef Tuusi Motzfeldt, on the 24th of November, 1941, is a former Greenlandic politician. He was a member of the democratic socialist and separatist political party, Inuit Ataqatigiit.
Some of the positions Motzfeldt held during his political career include Minister for Finance and Foreign Affairs of Greenland from 2009 to 2013, president of the West Nordic Council, member of the Parliament of Greenland, Chairman of Parliament, and leader of the Inuit Ataqatigiit party.
Who Are Her Spouse and Daughters?
Nukaaka Coster-Waldau is married to Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, a Danish actor, producer, and screenwriter who is best known for playing the role of Jaime Lannister in the HBO fantasy television series, Game of Thrones (2011-present). Nikolaj, whose talents ensured that he became the youngest actor to enter the Danish National School of Theatre and Contemporary Dance, is also known for his roles in Black Hawk Down (2001), Headhunters (2011), and A Thousand Times Good Night (2013).
Coster-Waldau married her Primetime Emmy Award nominee husband, who has since added UNDP Goodwill Ambassador to his title list following his appointment in 2016, in 1998. Together, the couple has two daughters; Filippa and Safina, as well as two dogs, which reside within their home in Kongens Lyngby, Copenhagen, Denmark.
Just like their superstar parents, both Filippa and Safina are looking to have careers in entertainment, although they have chosen to take the side of their father by becoming actors instead of singers. One of Filippa’s works, a Danish short film titled The Girl and the Dogs, was shown at the Cannes Films Festival in 2014.
