We love our Hollywood celebs and we love knowing everything there is to know all about them. Robert Downey Jr.’s Wife
Robert Downey Jr. has been married to Susan Downey for a little over 10 years now. As impressive as that is since a 10 year Hollywood marriage is equivalent to a 30-year marriage out here in the real world, he was married once before and that marriage lasted a whole 12 years.
Since we are meeting his present wife, we might as well meet wifey number one to get a full picture of Robert’s love life.
Robert Downey Jr.’s Wife; Deborah Falconer
Robert and Deborah were married in 1992 and their union ended in 2004. It’s certainly not a mystery why the relationship did not work knowing that Robert had a dark history with substance abuse. The two were married just 42 days after dating and against all odds they managed to stay married for 12 years.
Soon after getting hitched, the star bought a large house in Malibu and by the next year his first son, Indio was born. You would think that having a wife and son would compel the star to clean up his act, but Downey’s case was quite the opposite.
By 1996, his substance abuse had escalated, he graduated from weed, cocaine, and booze to heroin. At that point, Deborah decided she had to leave him, she could no longer handle his ‘epic binges’. That was not the end of their marriage though, Falconer continued to brave it out through his arrest, imprisonment, and release in 2000.
After his release, the star still did not clean up his act and though she desperately wanted him to get clean, that was the last straw. She packed up her bags, took their son with her, and filed for divorce. Though the divorce was not finalized till 2004, that was the end of the road for the couple.
Deborah Falconer is currently a musician, but she dabbled in acting back in the day and she currently has 3 studio albums to her name.

Most times life gives you a do-over, you just have to make a choice to use it wisely and this is what Downey did with his. When the couple first met, Susan, thought he was weird, we believe these were her exact words.
‘We were up in Montreal prepping for Gothika, and we had lunch with the director and Halle Berry, everybody else ordered Japanese, but Robert told us how oatmeal was the ‘super food’, he brought his own packets of oatmeal to have at lunch. And he had this box of various herbs and stuff. And then he started doing these yoga moves. I mean, he was interesting but weird.’
Soon after that meeting, he tracked Susan down on the set of Gothika, and three months later he asked her to marry him. It was certainly sudden, but that was an improvement from the 42 days he waited before he got hitched the first time. In fact, at the time he was still married to Falconer.
Anyway, Susan finally accepted but first she laid down the law, it was going to be a long engagement (2 years) and he was going to get squeaky clean during that period of time. The two were finally married in 2005 and they have been providing us with relationship goals since then.
Susan Downey is a film producer.
Robert Downey Jr.’s Kids
The actor has three kids, one from his first marriage with Debby Falconer, the other two children are from his wife Susan.
His first son, Indio Falconer was born on September 7, 1993, is basically a chip off the old block. The 23-year-old did not have the luxury of having a normal childhood and that has probably gotten to him. Indio, who is a member of a band (The Seems), inherited his father’s knacker for substance abuse.
On 12 March 2016, his father congratulated him for completing a 20 month long rehab program, let’s hope his road to recovery is not as bumpy as his dad’s.
Then we have the little ones, Rob’s second son, Exton Elias Downey, was born on February 7, 2012, and his little girl, Avril Roel Downing, was born on November 4, 2014.
It’s amazing how he gets a second chance on all counts; a second chance with his career, his love life and a second chance to be there for his kids.
