Jon Weiner, popularly known by his stage name Stugotz is a multi-talented American sports talk show anchor; best known for his regular appearances on ESPN’s The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz, as well as, Weekend Observations. He is a graduate of English/Communications from Clark University located in Worcester, Massachusetts. While in College, Weiner was an interesting lacrosse player and he represented Clark University in the Pilgrim League. Stugotz – Jon Weiner’s Bio
Jon Weiner was born in the late ’80s in Long Island, Port Washington in New York. While his birth date is not known, Weiner’s nationality is American and he belongs to the white ethnicity. When was growing up, stugotz was a big fan of the American radio show titled Mike and the Mad Dog; he soon developed an interest in pursuing a career as a talk show host when he grows up. He attended Clark University where he graduated from with an English/Communications degree in 1995. While he was at Clark, Weiner was a top lacrosse player, he competed in the Pilgrim League Division III lacrosse conference in 1992. He finished his college career as the second in scoring, he held the school record for highest goals per game, and was named to the All-Star team.
Professional Career
Upon graduation, Weiner adopted the name Stugotz as his stage name while he interned for Madison Square Garden, Manhattan with the New York Rangers and New York Knicks. After a while, he transferred to South Florida where he continued his internship with the Miami Dolphins and Miami Marlins. Soon after he completed his internship, along with his friends, he founded the South Miami radio station called WAXY or 790 The Ticket, now owned by Entercom. He also belongs to the Miccosukee Sports Wrap at the time.
On joining ESPN, Stugotz became a co-anchor of the ESPN morning radio show titled Weekend Observations alongside Mike Golic Jr. Together the duo also hosted several fantasy specials. He hosted ESPNEWS Aircheck and in 2004; alongside Dan Le Batard, he started a sports talk show called The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz. The show airs on ESPN Radio as well as ESPNEWS 10 AM to 1 PM. It garnered much popularity in Miami and America at large, thus bringing the duo to the limelight.
Following their brilliant performances, Dan Le Batard and Stugotz ranked No 6 on Talkers.com list of the 100 Most Important Sports Talk Show Hosts in America in 2015. Similarly, Barrett Sports Media named their show as one of the top 20 national sports radio shows the same year. The following year, Miami New Times honored Stugotz as the Best AM Radio Personality. Their show was later moved to ESPN2 in 2017 and on June 28, 2018, the duo announced the signing of a multi-year deal for the show with ESPN.
