Born Asuncion Cummings on October 20, 1968 (Libra), Sunny Hostin was raised in the Bronx, New York, United States. Her parents, William Cummings and Rosa Beza were interracial. While her father (William) belonged to African American descent, her mother (Rosa) was Puerto Rican.

Sunny Hostin is American by Nationality. She speaks English (as her mother tongue) and Spanish fluently. There is no known record of her siblings.

At a very tender age, Sunny’s innocent eyes witnessed the murder of her friend’s father in front of a candy store and also the stabbing of her uncle being. She was promoted to the post of trial attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division after gaining the requisite experience for a number of years, before moving on to serve in the District of Columbia as an Assistant United States Attorney.

Sunny Hostin passion to help the oppressed saw her prosecute (successfully) several sex offenders, especially child sex crimes as a federal prosecutor. This gained her recognition and she was also awarded a Special Achievement Award by the then US Attorney General, Janet Reno.

She worked at  Kroll, the world’s leading risk-consulting company as a Managing Director of Business Intelligence and Investigations.

Her career as a TV personality spurn off from when she worked on Court TV as a commentator and she never looked back ever since.
