Tracy Jamal Morgan was born on 10 November 1968 in the Bronx, New York in the United States. He is the second child of Alicia and Jimmy Morgan. His mother is a housewife, while his father is a musician and a veteran who returned from the Vietnam War. Morgan grew up with his other siblings in Bedford, Brooklyn.
As he grew up, Morgan attended DeWitt Clinton High School, and when he was seventeen years old, the young comedian learned that his father had contracted AIDS through the use of a hollow needle. In 2014 Tracy Morgan was involved in a fatal accident in which a comedian colleague named James McNair died. Both celebrities were sitting in a limousine bus when they returned from Morgan’s tour before being hit from behind by a Wal-Mart tractor-trailer on the New Jersey Turnpike. The impact of the accident was so severe that Morgan and James were left in a near-death situation. James died instantly, while Morgan suffered severe injuries to a broken leg, ribs, and nose.
