When Will The Haunting Of Hill House Season 2 Return And Who Will Be Cast?

The Haunting of Hill House is a film adaptation of the 1959 eponymous novel written by award-winning American writer Shirley Hardie Jackson. The supernatural horror drama web television series which came to light on October 12, 2018, became an instant hit upon its release with several movie critics using rare nice words to describe the show for its brilliance and also anticipate The Haunting Of Hill House season 2.

The review by Corrine Corrodus of The Telegraph in which he referred to The Haunting of Hill House as “the most complex and complete horror series of its time” may sound like a mere exaggeration to most people, but in actual fact, it is worthy of every word in that description. Unlike other haunted house shows, The Haunting of Hill House offers a perfect blend of screams, ghostly looking creatures and an uncanny house to tell a tale about a beautiful but troubled family. Without wasting more time, let’s briefly examine The Haunting of Hill House, its upcoming season and the actors who are likely to make the cast.

When Will The Haunting Of Hill House Season 2 Return?

Since the appearance of the Supernatural on TV in the 1890s, horror as a genre have gone through several stages of evolution, however, one key feature it has so far been unable to put off in entirety is its penchant for sad and confusing endings. As much as The Haunting of Hill House tries to present itself as more than just a regular horror movie, owing to the significance it places on family and all the drama that comes with it, it fails to register a different type of ending. With high ratings from film critics and massive call from fans and movie lovers demanding for a new season (so as to know what happened to their preferred character), it’s no surprise that what was supposed to be a one-season TV show have been renewed for yet another season.

According to Mike Flannagan, the director and creator of The Haunting of Hill House, the season 2 titled Haunting of Bly Manor is set to be released sometime in 2020, and if his interview with Birth.Death.Movies is anything to go by, the new season is expected to be way scarier than the previous one. While that would sound like very welcoming news to horror lovers, some might be disappointed to know that the Haunting of Bly Manor isn’t a continuation of The Haunting of Hill House in any way. As a matter of fact, it’s an entirely new story based on Henry James’ 1898 masterpiece The Turn of the Screw.

The story revolves around the lives of two children and their governess who, because of logically unexplainable happenings in the house, comes to believe that the kids are being tormented by the ghosts of the Manor’s former employees. Unlike the previous season, Haunting of Bly Manor is expected to play with the minds of viewers; as to if the governess is actually seeing ghosts, or if it’s a fragment of her imagination or perhaps she is having a psychological breakdown.

Who Will Be Cast?

Following the revelation by Mike Flannagan that the Haunting of Bly Manor is in no way a continuation of The Haunting of Hill House, neither is it about any member of the Crain family; several speculations arose as to who the cast members of Haunting of Bly Manor are.

Since the show is an adaption of Henry James’ The Turn of the Screw, it is expected to feature at least two children, the governess, the kids’ uncle (who refuses to live close to the property) and the ghosts of former employees Pete Quint and Miss Jessel. At this point in time, there is very little information known to the media as regards who will play whom, nevertheless, we can confirm that two cast members from The Haunting of Hill House will be taking up new roles in the upcoming season. They are no other persons than Victoria Pedretti and Oliver Jackson Cohen who both played the role of Nell Crain and Luke respectively in the previous season. Although we are uncertain as to the role Cohen will play in the upcoming season, Pedretti is expected to play the lead role of the governess.
