Who is Lindsay Arnold?

Lindsay Arnold is a professional choreographer and ballroom dancer. She was born on January 11, 1994, in Provo, Utah, in the United States. She comes from a modest family and was raised in Utah by her parents – Josh and Mindy Arnold, alongside her three siblings Jensen, Brynley, and Rylee Arnold – who were born in 1997, 2000, and 2005 respectively. Lindsay is the firstborn of the family and her younger sisters are Jensen, Brynley, and Rylee Arnold, born in 1997, 2000, and 2005 respectively. She attended Timpview High School and there is no information about her college education.

Marriage and Kids

The celebrity choreographer is married to her high school love Samuel Cusick. Their love for each other would lead them to the altar in holy matrimony on June 18, 2015. The couple tied the nuptial knots before 150 guests, including family and close friends in a rather small but super sweet ceremony that took place at the Salt Lake Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Despite the private nature of the ceremony, it had in attendance, her fellow ballroom dancers who were all part of her bridal train. While Witney Carson served as her chief bridesmaid, others who were part of her train included Emma Slater, Brittany Cherry, Brooklyn Fullmer, and Jenna Johnson. They don’t have any kids yet.

Samuel Lightner Cusick is the husband of the professional dancer, Lindsay Arnold. They met when they were 16, in high school, and got married at the age of 21 in June 2015. He popped the question while they were on a vacation in Africa. How do we know that? Lindsay told us herself! A super excited Lindsay announced the event on her social media account, with a post that read, “Just when I thought our day in Africa couldn’t get any better…. We are engaged!!”

Cusick is one of the founders of FlyNyx, according to his LinkedIn profile. He studied at Utah Valley University where he bagged a degree in Business Administration and Management. He went further and enrolled at Arizona State University where he also studied Business Communications and Data Analytics.

Lindsay Arnold is one of those stars who began showing signs of promise from childhood. Her talent was spotted when she was just four years old and was privileged to be groomed by dancer and choreographer, Mark Ballas and his mother, Shirley Ballas, a ballroom dancer, and dance teacher.

Mother’s Role

Lindsay Arnold’s mother, Mindy Arnold, played a pivotal role in the dancer she has turned out to become today. Being a dancer herself, her mother owned a dance school, and this is where Lindsay received her training as she has gone on to dazzle the world before her, improving with performance after performance. while she was growing up, she participated in several dance competitions which helped her develop better.

Competitions

At the beginning of her professional journey as a dancer, Lindsay took part in the United States Open Youth Latin Championships and the United States Open Junior Latin Championships and winning both. She also competed at the World Junior Latin Team Match but fell short of a win as she finished in the top three.

Adventure With Dance Shows

So You Think You Can Dance

Heeding her mother’s advice, Lindsay Arnold went to audition for So You Think You Can Dance. She was 18 years old at the time and the show, which was a popular dance show in the US, was in its ninth season. She scaled through the auditions as the youngest contestant and was paired with martial arts fusion dancer Cole Horibe. She struck chemistry with Horibe and they excelled until the final weeks when dance partners were shuffled.

She would get paired with Alex Wong and Jakob Karr before being eliminated from the show. Her performance, however, earned her a huge fan base and also an invitation to be part of a tour across 30 cities in the company of the very best dancers around. The tour did well to improve her standing and sell her image as a professional dancer.

Dancing With The Stars (DWTS)

She joined the celebrity dance show Dancing with the Stars in its 16th season as the second-youngest dancer in history to ever appear on the show. She was paired with Victor Ortiz which seemed to be a good one as she finished the competition in 8th place. She continued appearing on the show in its subsequent seasons.

In the 17th season, she joined a dance troupe and remained with them till the 20th season of the show. She would once again become a dance partner in the 21st season and this time to Alek Skarlatos, a member of the US National Guard. It was a successful partnership as they finished the show as the second runners-up. In the following season (Season 22), she was paired with Wanya Morris, a popular singer from the male band, Boyz II Men. Again it was a good one as they ended in 4th place.

She partnered with Calvin Johnson Jr., an NFL player in the 23rd season, and finished third place. David Ross, a former MLB catcher was her partner for the 24th season of the show and the couple finished as first runners-up (second place). As if that served as motivation, in November 2017, Lindsay Arnold finally won the 25th season of the show in style, setting a record for most perfect scores (nine) and becoming the only dancer to date to finish in first, second, third, and fourth places in four back to back shows. Her partner this time was actor and singer, Jordan Fisher.

There was one more participation, maybe an attempt to consolidate her title win in the 25th season. She was partnered with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, a retired NBA star, and ended up in her worst finish (seventh) since her eighth-place finish on her debut on the show.
