Chris Davis is a professional baseball player from the U.S who currently plays for the Baltimore Orioles of the Major League Baseball (MLB). Davis who was nicknamed ‘Crush Davis’ because of his skills, began his NFL career with the Texas Rangers before he was traded to Baltimore Orioles in 2011.
Born March 17, 1986, as Christopher Lyn Davis in Longview Texas. His parents divorced when he was still very young. He has just one sibling – an older sister named Jennifer.
Davis began playing right from his high school days at Longview High School. He didn’t only play shortstop on the school’s varsity baseball team and but was also pitching.
Chris Davis – Career
After graduating from high school in 2004, Davis was selected by the New York Yankees as the third-to-last pick of the 2004 Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft, he, however, turned down the offer, choosing to rather attend the Navarro Junior College in Texas, where he became the team’s third baseman and as well as their first baseman.
He was spotted by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, who drafted him in 2005 MLB Draft, and he also turned the offer down. In 2006, he was named a pre-season JUCO All-American by Baseball America- this also earned him the Most Valuable Player honors in Region XIV East Zone.
That same year, he recorded 17 home runs and Davis and was drafted again, this time by the Texas Rangers in the fifth round of the 2006 MLB Draft and he accepted the offer which marked the beginning of his minor league career. For the rest of the season, he was with the Spokane Indians of the Single-A short-season Northwest League, playing the outfield and first base positions. He batted .277 with 70 hits after 69 games. In that same time, Davis had 65 strikeouts (eighth), 18 doubles, 15 home runs, and 42 runs batted in (RBI).
The Bakersfield Blaze of the Single-A advanced California League was his first team in the 2007 season before he got promoted to the Frisco RoughRiders, which was a part of the Double-A Texas League, he remained there for the rest of the season. By the end of the season, he was named Rangers’ Tom Grieve Minor League Player of the Year. As the next season began, he was ranked #2 prospect in the Rangers’ organization, behind Elvis Andrus by Baseball America.
In the 2008 season, he played first base for Frisco, batting .333 with 62 hits, 13 home runs, and 42 RBI in 46 games, before he received another promotion to the Triple-A Oklahoma RedHawks of the Pacific Coast League. He hit .333 with 37 hits, 10 home runs, and 31 RBI in 31 games and was named the All-Star Futures Game but he couldn’t play because of his promotion to the major leagues by the Texas Rangers.
Although, he recorded his first Major League at-bat, against Óscar Villarreal, the game ended in a 7–2 loss to the Houston Astros. His first Major League game at first base came on June 27, 2008, where he recorded his first Major League home run.
He remained with the Texas Rangers until the 2011 season when he was traded to the Baltimore Orioles alongside pitcher, Tommy Hunter, in exchange for reliever Koji Uehara. He has remained with Orioles ever since (as at the time of writing this article).
In 2017, Chris Davis hit his 200th career home run in an Orioles uniform, making him the eighth in the history of Oriole franchise to do so. In May of the same year, he his 250th career home run (208th as an Oriole) to become the 221st player in the history of the MLB to do so.
He also recorded his 738th career hit as an Oriole, becoming the 50th all-time in franchise history to do so. He also recorded a tied with Brady Anderson for 7th in franchise history with his 209th career home run as an Oriole. In that season, he batted .215/.309/.423 overall, and .208/.293/.326 against left-handers.

Chris Davis has been married to Jill Davis since 2011 and the couple has three adorable daughters together. They currently live in Baltimore, Maryland, and Flower Mound, Texas, with their daughters – Ella, Evelyn, and Dorothy. They had previously lived in Arlington.
