This former American football player was born on 21st January 1985 in Amherst, New York City with the birthname Daniel Thomas Gronkowski. He was a student of Williamsville North High School and during his days there, he joined the football, baseball, basketball, and ice hockey teams. For two years, he played starting quarterback and for a year, he played the position of a starting wide receiver on the pitch. In his sophomore year in 2001, he set a record in his school as the first player to record 539 receiving yards. He also set records in his senior year when he completed 122 out of 207 passes for 1,407 yards with 16 touchdowns and this landed him the title League Offensive Most Valuable Player.

During his university days at the University of Maryland, he had the opportunity to play his first matches in 2005 and was involved in 5 games in which he made 2 receptions for a range of 37 yards and a remarkable 25-yard touchdown reception. The next year, he was selected to play in the full season’s games which included 13 games in which he made 9 starts and recorded 2 receptions which ranged at 11 yards which earned him the George Boutselis Memorial Award. The talented player was featured in 11 games in 2007 which included 8 starts. It was also recorded that year that he caught 7 passes that had a range of 66 yards and he was said to have earned the team’s Lefty McIntosh Award which was an award for public service that year. Gronkowski’s final year in the university was also a successful one as he saw action in 13 games in which he started 12, caught 29 passes that had a range of 287 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also earned the title of honorable mention All-ACC player in 2008.

After his university days, he launched his professional football career and was signed b Detroit Lions on June 25th, 2009 for a contract that was supposed to last for 3yrs but the next year, he was traded off to Denver Broncos on 4th September for their cornerback player Alphonso Smith. The player later signed with the New England Patriots on September 6th, 2011 but his stay here was really short as by November that year, he switched over to Cleveland Browns who signed him because one of their players – Alex Smith sustained an injury and was placed on reserve. He played for the Browns till August 2012 after which his contract was terminated then in January 2013, they re-signed him but by August that year he was released and it was the last team the player has been on to date.

1. Gordie Gronkowski, Jr. who played baseball during his days at Jacksonville University.
