Gustaf Skarsgård is a prominent Swedish actor who is recognized for his roles as Floki in the historical drama series Vikings and as Karl Strand in the HBO series Westworld. The actor is also a member of the famous Skarsgård family which has produced several notable stars in Hollywood including Stellan Skarsgård, Bill Skarsgård, and Alexander Skarsgård.
Gustaf Skarsgård Biography
Gustaf Caspar Orm Skarsgård was born on the 12th of November 1980 in Stockholm, Sweden to the family of Stellan and My Skarsgård. He has five siblings and two half-brothers from his father’s second wife, Megan Everett. Gustaf started acting at a young age, appearing in the Swedish film Codename Coq Rogue when he was just nine years old. From 1999 to 2003, Gustaf attended the Swedish National Academy of Mime and Acting, also known as Teaterhögskolan in Swedish. He went on to join the Royal Dramatic Theatre and while he was there, he performed in numerous works of Shakespeare.
In 2003, Gustaf Skarsgård featured in the drama film, Evil, a film based on Jan Guillou’s novel with the same title. He also appeared in the Norwegian film, The Color of Milk in 2004. In 2006, the Swedish actor played the role of Johan in Kidz in da Hood and earned a Guldbagge Award for Best Actor. In the next year, he clinched the European Film Academy’s Shooting Stars Award. Other films he has appeared in over the years include Patrick, Age 1.5, Trust Me, Kon-Tiki, Arn – The Knight Templar, and Arn – The Kingdom at Road’s End.

Gustaf Skarsgård comes from a well-respected family in Sweden. His father, Stellan Skarsgård, is a well-known and respected veteran actor. Stellan is popularly known for his roles in films such as Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, Angels and Demons, Thor, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and many others. Gustaf’s mother – My Skarsgård, on the other hand, is a physician.
The first of his siblings is his older brother, Alexander Skarsgård. He is an actor best known for his role as Eric Northman in the series True Blood. The Award-winning actor previously served in the Swedish military before choosing to become an actor. Another brother who was once an actor is Sam Skarsgård; though he has given up the profession, he still enjoys the fame accorded to the family. Eija Skarsgård is the only girl in the family; she also enjoys the privilege that comes with having the Skarsgård name. She is a model and is very active on social media, especially Instagram.
Valter Skarsgård, the last offspring of Stellan and My’s union, is an actor as well. Though the youngest, he is also creating a successful career for himself with films such as Details (2003) and Arn- The Kingdom at Road’s End (2008).
Interestingly, all actors including the patriarch are over 6 feet in height. There is also a healthy rivalry that exists among the actors, but they are still mindful of their status as brothers even as they consistently achieve new career heights.
Stellan, for one, has been praised for his parental intuition in guiding them all to a successful career path. His sons repeatedly describe him as being very supportive.

The actors parted ways in 2005 after six years of being together. Like Gustaf, Hanna was also born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1981 and she started as a child actor at Unga Teatern. She also attended Royal Dramatic Theatre and the Swedish National Academy of Mime and Acting. She is mostly recognized for playing Princess Tilde of Sweden in the action comedy film Kingsman: The Secret Service and its sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
