The Elin Nordegren and Tiger Woods split was one of the most dramatic breakups in sports. More than a decade after the whole drama, the media is yet to get over it for some very good reasons; it marked the beginning of the decline of one of the greatest sportsmen alive, while also baring his not so perfect life outside of the world of golf.
When Tiger Woods met Elin Nordegren, she was working in the home of Swedish golfer Jesper Parnevik as a full-time nanny. She’s a very beautiful woman who had attracted the attention of a number of other golfers including Woods who was already a household name in the sports.
The two were first introduced by Parnevik and his wife and although Woods had fallen for the blonde beauty, she was not interested in him at first and he accepted things that way. Nonetheless, he still came around to win her heart and by 2003, they were engaged in South Africa before they got married a year later. Three years later, they were blessed with their first child, a daughter Sam Alexis Woods who was born in 2007. Sam was followed by a son Charlie Axel in 2009.
In the same year that their son was born, news emerged that not all was well with the marriage. Various cheating allegations were leveling up against Woods and there were many cracks already in the union. Woods had hoped his wife would be interested in working on the marriage but the allegations against him were overwhelming and she walked out of the marriage. Their divorce was finalized in 2010 with Elin awarded $100 million in the settlement.
The Real Reason Elin Nordegren and Tiger Woods Split
The main reason behind the end of the marriage between Elin and Woods was the infidelity of the legendary golfer. A serial cheater, Woods revealed that although they were so much in love, he betrayed her with his selfishness and dishonesty which caused her so much pain.
The first time that any report as regards his cheating allegations came up was in November 2009 when the National Enquirer published a story that the golfer was having an affair with a nightclub manager whose name was given as Rachel Uchitel. Both did not waste any time to deny the report.
A couple of days later, the golf star was involved in an accident that raised eyebrows and got the media speculating if he had a fight with his wife before it happened. He would deny the claim but at the same time, he claimed responsibility for what had happened.
The subsequent weeks that followed saw more revelations of infidelity against Woods who, as it emerged, had affairs with many women since they were married. With everything clear and out in the open, he came out to apologize to his wife, claiming that he thought he could get away with whatever he felt like doing because he had already achieved a lot of success but he realized he was only foolish.
Even with the much that had gone between them, the two did not immediately split. At first, they tried to work on all the issues that were caused by the actions of the golfer who decided to take an indefinite break from golf. However, the harm was severe and they couldn’t work things out, leading to their divorce.
Post-Split Relationship
Although like most other divorces there was pain and bitterness, Elin and Woods did not continue with the bitterness after their marriage failed. They have continued to have a good relationship because of their children.
When the divorce was finalized, Nordegren wished Woods well in both his professional and personal life. She also revealed they were going to have joint custody of their kinds.

Since their split, both Elin and Woods have dated different people. Elin got into a relationship with Chris Cline before it later came to an end. Her next known relationship was with NFL star with whom it was announced in June 2019 that she was expecting a child.
On his own part, Woods has dated many more women, including Jaimee Grubss whom he dated from 2007 to 2009, Linsey Vonn from 2012 to 2015, and then whom he has been dating since 2017.
