Who Were The Members of Hello Venus and Why Did The Disband in 2019

Formed in 2012 by Tricell Media, Hello Venus was one of the hottest K-pop bands around for many years until they decided to part ways. They launched their music career on May 9, 2012, with the release of their first single Venus, which later became the title track of the EP they dropped shortly after. They quickly became musical sensations going on to release several bestselling albums and singles. Initially, Hello Venus was comprised of six members, however, two of them departed in 2014, and two new members were debuted as part of the group. The group has received several awards for its music including a Gaon Chart K-pop Awards, Asian Model Festival, as well as Mnet Asian Music Award and Seoul Music Awards nominations.

Alice

The leader, front person, and main vocalist of Hello Venus was born Song Joo-hee on the 21st of March 1990, in Wonju, South Korea. She is an excellent guitar player and has received effusive praise for her beautiful singing voice. Alice used to perform under the stage name Ora and even released a single in 2010 titled Naughty Face. She has also appeared in a couple of Korean dramas such as The Night Watchman, Not 2, and After School Lucky. Alice stands at a height of 5 feet 5 inches (166 cm) with a body weight of 47 kg (103 pounds).

Lime

This former Hello Venus member was born in Incheon, South Korea, on January 19, 1993. She serves as the lead vocalist, main rapper and dancer of the group. Lime was also fondly called Haley by the rest of the group members as well as their fans. She attended Youngpa Girls’ Middle School and Youngpa Girls’ High School. Lime is bilingual and speaks English excellently in addition to Korean. Prior to Hello Venus, the young singer almost joined a group called Viva Girls alongside Daishabet’s Woohee, WJSN’s Exy and Seola, and 9muses’ Kyungri, however, the agency they were signed to, Medialine Entertainment, went into financial distress before they made their debut. She also used to be a member of After School. Lime weighs 50 kg (110 pounds) and is 5 feet 5 inches (166 cm) tall.

Nara

Nara was born in Seongham, South Korea, on March 13th, 1991, as Kwon Na-ra. She later changed her name to Kwon Ah Yoon because she felt it suited her personality better. Nara, who is the oldest of three sisters, attended Dongduk Women’s University where she bagged a degree in broadcasting. While Hello Venus was still active, she served as the group’s visual and vocalist. She served as a trainee for the second-longest time after Alice. Nara is also pursuing successful side careers as a model and actress. Her acting credits include roles in Suspicious Partner, Story of Someone I Know, Your Honour, and I Hate Seoul. Nara is 5 feet 7 inches (172 cm) tall and weighs around 52 kg (114 pounds).

Yooyoung

Born in Suwon, South Korea, on January 23, 1995, and christened Lee Yoo-young, this cherry-eyed eyed member of Hello Venus was one of the youngest in the group. She served as the band’s vocalist, lead dancer, and lead rapper – and speaks English fluently. Aside from her music career, Yooyoung has achieved fame through acting, featuring in dramas like Who Are You—School 2015, Mother’s Garden, Wonderful Mama, Futureless Things, and Cunning Single Lady. She has a height of 5 feet 6 inches (170 cm) and weighs 49 kg (108 pounds).

Seoyoung

Jang Seo-young was born on the 27th of July 1994 in Seoul, South Korea. She was a dancer and lead vocalist for Hello Venus before they disbanded. She joined the group in 2014 after two of its original members left. Seoyoung was the shortest member of the group with a height of 5 feet 4 inches (164 cm). She weighs 50 kg (110 pounds).

Yeoreum

Yeoreum was born An Chae-yeon in Seoul, South Korea, on June 4th, 1996. She attended Dongjak High School. She was one of the newest members of Hello Venus that debuted for the group in 2014. She was the band’s vocalist until they separated. Yeoreum is only 5 feet 5 inches (167 cm) in height with a bodyweight of 48 kg (105 pounds).

Why Did They Disband?

In April 2019, rumors began swirling about that Hello Venus was going to split up in May after most of the member’s contract expires instead of opting for renewal. The main reason for the group disbanding was because its key members wanted to spend more time pursuing their solo music careers and other professional paths.
