Byun Baek-Hyun, popularly known as Baekhyun, is a talented songwriter, singer, and actor from South Korea. He is also a former lead vocalist and member of the popular Chinese-South Korean boy band called EXO. He later joined the subgroup of EXO called Exo-K and Exo-CBX, before venturing out on a solo career and then joining another group called SuperM in August 2019. In collaboration with Capitol Records, SuperM intends to explore the American entertainment industry.
Baekhyun has excelled both as a singer and actor and has won many awards for his efforts in the industry. Offstage, he is a calm and quiet bloke, who loves playing the piano and video games.
Reports have it that Baekhyun auditioned with several entertainment agencies in a bid to get signed and promote his music career, but he was unsuccessful, nevertheless, that did not kill his dream. While practicing for a talent contest, an agent of SM Entertainment heard him rehearsing and offered him the opportunity to join the agency. He was officially named as a member of the band, EXO, in January 2012 and unveiled as the group’s lead singer.

1. Baekhyun Was Part Of A Band In High School
Baekhyun knew quite early in life what he wanted to do and become, and despite the challenges that life threw at him, he weathered the storm to achieve his dreams. He knew before he turned 10 that he wanted to be a singer and even went as far as telling his friends and family that he would be a popular and famous celebrity when he grows up. By the time he turned 11, he had already begun receiving training on how to be a singer; he looked to his music idols like Rain – a South Korean pop singer, and began imitating his voice and general flair.
While he was in high school, he joined a teenage band called Honsusangtae, which when translated literally means “Coma”. The band entered a local music competition which they won and this served to boost his belief in himself and his dream. After this, he sought the assistance of another one of his idols, Kim Hyun-woo – a member of the rock band, DickPunks – who taught him how to play the piano.

Baekhyun made his acting debut as himself in a drama series in 2012, in a production titled To The Beautiful You. In 2014, he made his theatrical debut as Don Lockwood in a play titled Singin’ in the Rain; he then co-hosted a television show titled Inkigayo on SBS the same year. He was a recurring cast member in a television show titled Master Key and was a main cast member in Bad Tempered 5 Brothers.
The EXO group members (including Baekhyun) and Moon Ga-young featured in a Web-based television series called EXO Next Door as fictional characters of themselves. The show was a hit, with more than 50 million viewers.

Baekhyun trained as a martial artist and has a 3rd Dan black belt in Hapkido. He disclosed that he learned martial arts for 9 years, right from an early age and that he could jump over 11 people.
